This is legit the first time I wished I had Xbox because I'm really curious about this game and career mode compared to GT7. GT career mode is just strange to me, and I don't love the races in general.

I love the GT series but I think I like Forza better than GT7.

Me too, and I'm not sure why. GT7 is a better game in a lot of ways, maybe it's just that Forza is more accessible for folks, or I'm more used to the game since the 360 days.

Btw, guys check out this Autumn track, looks wonderfully fall.......

I'm torn between the recommended performance mode and RT performance. I want to like ray tracing, but I'm noticing more of a difference in visual fidelity between the two than ray tracing. I kinda feel like performance RT is better in the cockpit and regular performance is better for that traditional behind-the-car view.

Picked this up on gamepass. Main desktop is on the fritz so I took a chance on the Ally. Pleasantly surprised at how playable it is (Getting 30 FPS consistent on medium settings).

Overall, it's a forza game. The handling is light years ahead of previous games, so that's a positive. Graphics I can't really speak on considering I'm playing everything so low, but from the screens I've seen they've definitely taken a step back from the previous games... Which is odd. Again, means virtually nothing to me (The game still looks great, IMO) but apparently it's enough to cause people to ask for refunds so I guess it's worth mentioning.

Career mode feels quite good, although maybe not as good as FM7? Idk, it's very rare we even get a career mode in racing games these days it feels like so it's a win in my book, especially comparing to GT7's "Career" mode.

Haven't touched multiplayer yet, mainly because I don't trust getting on there without the game crashing, but I'm pretty happy they went with an iRacing model for practice, qualy and then the race. I'm sure I'll take a look at this in time as the game becomes more optimized.

Speaking of such, the game IS poorly optimized, I had a handful of crashes when I first started it (Usually during high physics moments, like a crash into tire barriers. Frankly haven't seen any since the opening prologue so it could've been a shader cache issue as well that just needed time to resolve), and the overall sputtery-ness of some transitions is off-putting, but assuming they're fixed in time, probably won't be much of an issue.

As far as cars and tracks, they're okay. Would've loved to see more modern GT cars (They have the 2017 models right now) but the variety and such you expect in that regard is still there. Track wise, it's missing a few staples, but I think the initial track offerings are fair (No Nordschleife though is definitely a bummer. I know it's coming in 2024, I just wonder what their thought process was in not getting it done for release? It's a staple of driving games and pretty much the first track i touch on any game lol). Assuming the GaaS model works out, there's still a good number of tracks they can work on getting in, but the current offerings are more the fair IMO.

Overall, I'm having a good time, but probably not a 100$ good time. If I had spent money on this, I'd feel a little let down, just because I don't think there's frankly enough here to separate it from FM7. But if you can grab it on gamepass, it's absolutely worth a download

Thanks for providing your insights, I agree that the game is terribly optimized but man I just love it and I’m addicted, well worth the $106 I actually paid for it just because I wanted to own

Re: Forza Motorsport Available Today - Included with Game Pass

I'm totally getting into Forza Motorsport on my Series X and Thrustmaster TX leather force feedback wheel and T3PA pedals. It's the best implementation of force feedback I've seen on a console yet.

FM isn't quite as glamorous in its presenation as previous Forza 7's, but it more than makes up for it in its on the track performance. I'm enjoying every aspect of it and even the multiplayer racing has been more civil than previous iterations. I'm enjoying the career mode also, even though it occasionally requires me to drive cars or go to tracks I'm not overly fond of, but it's an easier structure to relate to than career modes of Forzas past.

I'm still tweaking on my force feedback wheel settings trying to find the perfect mix. It's an ongoing battle but one I enjoy.

Ever since the last update I've actually been able to play this for more then one race without it crashing. Overall, having a good time, but the AI is really bringing it down a notch. They just simply won't overtake unless you go off track. I can stay on the racing line going at a snails pace and they just simply do not want to go for it. Making the races a little boring, once I pass someone, I know they are no longer a threat.

I'm definitely spoiled by iRacing AI of late, and no console sim-cade games have gotten AI very good in recent years either, but for all the marketing talk they put around it, it's a little disheartening to see it's in a worse place the FM7 AI...

Perhaps it's something that can be changed in time, perhaps it's something I'll learn to live with, but this current method of feeling like a herder leading the sheep is already gotten painfully boring, and I'm three events into career..

I think that it is largely contingent upon your difficulty level if they pass you or hang back. I play at level 4 and then the bottom setting is in the middle and they're pretty decent, a bit too passive.

However when I go up to level 5 and put the bottom setting on the far right, the most difficult setting, then the AI becomes super aggressive, running folks off the road, acting like a maniac (probably good practice for online LOL)

So my main complaint is, can we get a level between 4 and 5? LOL, it's a little too easy at level 4 and a bit too hard on 5, at least for me anyways..

Yeah, I'm on max difficulty. The issue is a legacy issue where 99% of the field doesn't want to fight and the guy in P1 is lightning quick to the point that it's impossible to catch them. This has been a thing forever in FM, I was just hoping that with the whole "Revamped" AI that they would've figured something else out.

don't get me wrong, still a fun game (Haven't gotten online yet, and frankly, probably won't for awhile as the current setup where they're trying to emulate iRacing's Practice - Qualy - Race format isn't really working for me, they need to cut practice time by about a quarter for it to make sense to me, too much waiting around) but the AI I'm hoping they can do some work on as I'm just not seeing these improvements they said were coming

Ok, yeah I hear where you are coming from. I think we are going to see massive improvements in this area within the next three years.

I also haven't seen much difference in the AI, I actually thought maybe the interview I read talking all about how massively different it was must have been for another game, LOL

For career races I run at level 4 with some slight difficulty. But for my free play races I got to level 5 and depending on my car it is a real challenge.

Does anyone play this on Series S? This is the first game on series s where I feel the power drawbacks make the graphics noticeably suffer a bit. I’m running it in visual mode at 30fps instead of performance mode at 60 fps since at least visual mode looks pretty good and I don’t notice a huge difference in gameplay between modes. I will say the game plays smooth and fps looks fine to me in visual 30fps mode. Clearly they had to sacrifice graphics to ensure that.

Also what assists are you guys using controller running? I’m going with all assists off except for ABS but it’s conflicting cause so many cars now in real life have dynamic tc etc.
