wow, it'd be hard to drive using this I think but it works beautifully in this game in which you observe your drivers, as opposed to driving yourself

Yeah, it's good fun, a little disorienting if you keep it on for a long while but I like to switch to it during overtakes and such.

If you want a real racing game that did the helmet cam to a T perfect go look for some videos of Project CARS 2 helmet cam. To this day I have yet to see a sim recreate this as well as they did

OMG I agree, I played that game more for that cam than anything else. It was the main reason I lamented that series going away.

I don't know why they don't try to put that in more racing games. Other than this camera I've not seen anything like it.

It's one of the only reasons I still runs some hotlaps in that game. The physics and tyre model are archaic but that camera alone makes it worth it to drive around in for a bit

Hey ODogg, not sure how this flew under my radar, but I recently re-downloaded Automoblista 2 (Could never get it working with my pedals). after finally getting them working I did some digging around the menu and thought "Man, this tracklist looks really similar to Pcars2..." Loaded into a track and, low and behold, they have the EXCAT same camera angles, including the god-like helmet cam from Pcars2!

No idea if Automoblista 2 has some Project Cars 2 developers attached (They're by two completely different studios) but if you're ever looking for that itch in a modern sim, it's 50% off this weekend and a blast. Just wish they would've carried over Pcars2 amazing career mode, but beggars can't be choosers lol. It's also the only sim I know of that has the classic Nurburing and classic Spa tracks without mods. Classic Spa in a modern F1 car is absolutely wild lol

EDIT: And a quicki check on wiki answered my question lol

"Automobilista 2 is built on the Madness engine, developed by Slightly Mad Studios for the Project CARS series. Automobilista 2 inherited the Seta tyre model, which is a physical tyre model. The Seta tyre model simulates the carcass, the tread and the heat of the tyre, which allows for a wide variety of tyres to be simulated with realistic handling properties"

they may have inherited the tyre model, but they definitely improved on it from the PCars days lol
