Over all I must say I was VERY VERY surprised. Yes they made the track a bit faster then it was when CHAMP CAR ran there. Still though the IRL cars were a bit faster then I thought they would have been. Also I thought for sure there would be some gear box failures and I was wrong on that as well. I was also surprised at how clean the first part of the race was.
There was a string of incidents later on in the race but for the most part a lot of those guys surprised me Sam Hornish being the biggest surprise of them all. For the casuel race fan that race looked like a CHAMP CAR race. Now granted all the guys that promoted and put on that event came over from CHAMP CAR so no surprise that they were able to pull it all off without a hitch. In fact my wife walked by the t.v and asked why I was not at Long Beach!..lol. I had to tell her that it was not CHAMP CAR and it was not the Long beach Grand Prix on t.v.
With what I saw from that race I will be watching the other two road course race's that the IRL will be doing later on.
