Re: XBox Indie Series 2005 (buy and rent)
-- Very good driving and racing model.
-- Odd caution flag model at times.
-- Very buggy and unstable on Xbox Live, plus no one ever plays it online anymore.
-- Marginal graphics, but a GREAT cockpit camera angle.
If you're jonesing for a solid offline racing game and don't mind racing only on ovals, then ICS 2005 is a solid pickup for $10. If you're expecting more or want a good online racing experience, pass on this game.
Take care,

Grunt:
Tal is right. Not an easy game, especially at the Pro level. And the default setups have way too much understeer on most tracks.
Drop me a PM or post here if you buy the game and want some help with basic setups that will give you a stable, quick car for races. You won't win the pole every time with my setups, but you will have a pretty fast car with consistent handling throughout the fuel run.
That reminds me: ICS 2005 simulates the effect of the handling effects as the fuel load decreases and the effects of cold tires better than any racing game I've ever played, oval or road-racing.
Take care,

Re: XBox Indie Series 2005 (buy and rent)
I don't have my setups anymore, as I don't have the game anymore.
But in general, add as much front wing as you can on most tracks, and remove some rear wing. Also decrease the air pressure of your front tires by about 1 or 2 pounds.
Those changes will eliminate the understeer inherent in the game and give you a stable car throughout the fuel run. You'll need to mess with gearing and other variables if you want a car that will win the pole every race, but my basic setup tips will give you a stable car that's more than capable of winning offline races on the Pro level.
Qualifying tip: Remove most of your fuel from the tank before qualifying. You'll only need enough fuel to complete three laps for every track except Indy. For Indy, put in enough fuel for around six laps since Indy 500 qualifying consists of your average speed for four laps. If you use full tanks during qualifying, you'll lose speed due to the extra weight.
Race tip: Run on full rich (fuel setting 7) to get more power and speed. You'll burn fuel more quickly, but there usually are enough caution periods where you'll stay in pit sequence with the other cars. The only time I ever ran lower settings was during longer races where I tried to win races on fuel mileage. Don't hesitate to run longer races, such as quarter-, half- or full-distance. That's where the true strategy of oval racing really comes into play.
Final tip: Don't waste your time with anything other than the Pro level, with all assists off. The game is too easy and becomes dull quite quickly when you play with assists on.
Good luck!

PKEA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

The bland graphics in that game really killed the experience for me.
Sadly, IndyCar Series 2005 is the last game in the series. There is no ICS 2006 in the works, although IndyCar Series cars and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway could figure in the next TOCA game.

It will be in the next TOCA game as one of the open wheel career paths, I asked the developers, however I doubt how close the racing will be to that in Indy 2005 and if you want setups here is a link. BE WARNED! with these setups you will beat the AI down like a mule, the setups are so fast.
Here is the site.
