    Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 Impressions

I am absolutely in love with the game. It was totally worth the $100 to get the deck (Why? Because why not?)

I was absolute garbage Thursday, the first day I got the game. I literally could not get beyond a 30,000. The harder I tried, the worse my score got.

Today, I have been doing a lot better. I got lucky on the one competition level and pulled out a 165,000 combo to finally get a gold medal.

The mall level is absolutely kicking my butt. I cannot get the two high scores to finish it. I am trying to finish a level completely before moving on, but I had to move in from the mall. It was definitely my least favorite map.

The camera controls sucked until I unchecked the inverts on Y and X.

    I would give this a 10/10.

Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

No NPCs aside from the crazy cars here or there. I'm cool with that because of the allegiance to the original games and whatnot.

It feels old skool. I like unlocking shoes and picking based on what I think looks coolest. Makes the game, at least to me, a lot more appealing long term. I'll be trying to unlock gear long after I beat all the levels.

I dont feel like they want any more money than the $40 (which is already amazing) I quickly handed them upon the games release. Which is super super refreshing.
100 percent with you here. What a great deal for a fun and completely uncomplicated gaming system. It's a small thing but I appreciate not being hit with a pop-up on every load trying to get me to buy new content (ah-hem, NBA 2K) while not being forced to grind hours for limited returns.

Instead, it felt like the game was just waiting to give things away. The first two days resulted scarce monetary returns but even then I was still earning new decks, shirts, logos, etc. Now the money's flowing, I can buy what I please, and there's no microtransaction system begging to muck things up.

It's been a super enjoyable experience so far and I hope this game's critical response leads to either continued remakes (THPS 3 & 4 or maybe a THUG) or a new original THPS-inspired sequel.

I was terrible back then and age has not helped. Still having a ton of fun though. Just like back then I find myself frustrated but hell bent on trying to get high scores. So much so that I find 20 minutes have gone by and I'm not bothered by it one bit. It's a great game to just pick up and play.

There's mannequins in the mall. Which is kinda creepy since its already old and dilapidated.

First game I've paid full price for in quite a while. I suck at these games, I'll never understand how people get the sick scores, having a lot of fun though. I picked this up in place of NBA 2k (which I usually get every year), no regrets.

I had gotten my online ranking up to 71, but I took the past four or five days off from playing the game. Jumped on last night real quick, and saw that I had dropped down to the 700’s. Yikes. Gotta start grinding away again...

It's all about having a line and planning ahead. The Hanger is a super easy level to practice on. You can grind all the way around. And then manual back to the start and start over again. Grind extensions and flatland tricks rack up the multiplier. Feather the balance bars to keep them going longer. Before long million point combos will be cake.

Hopefully this mean 3-4 and underground 1-2 will get remade.

I wouldn't say you even need a plan really. Just know your special tricks and try to get them into a combo with a manual or something. My go to is a hard flip darkslide and the indy back flip.

Right now, I'm just trying to completely play through the Pro Skater skate tours. I'll tackle Pro Skater 2 after than but I'll try to keep that in mind.

For sure. Best way to play. No multiplayer lobbies on the upgraded version though
