She lost and was visibly upset at the crowd being 100% against her (to be fair, she's in the finals in Canada against a Canadian), and in the speech she doesn't acknowledge Mboko (the person who beat her) at all and just rushes through her post match speech.

Osaka taking heat right now for her post match speech.

So I have no idea what happened in her speech, I usually turn that off anyway because I don't care. I was more interested in learning about the 18 year old that beat her, I don't know anything about her but she's already the #1 ranked Canadian, would've loved to watch that match.
Even the doubles final, I don't usually care about doubles but Coco was playing with Kessler and they played Zhang and Taylor Townsend in the final, it ended in a 13-11 tiebreak win for Coco and Kessler, apparently the first time they'd ever played together and immediately won a championship
sidenote: Osaka has issued a public apology for not acknowledging her opponent (which is dumb to me, but whatever, we're prim and proper in this sport)Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Medvedev in full villain mode tonight, and it nearly worked!
A photographer walked onto the court when Benjamin Bonzi was about to serve for the match on Sunday night, completely disrupting play.
ended up breaking serve after a long delay, demolishing the 4th set 6-0, and then losing in the 5th and smashing the crap out of his racket
there was a lot of playing to the crowd both ways, this is the same dude that beat Medvedev in the 1st round of Wimbledon so there's historyLast edited by l3ulvl; 08-25-2025, 02:03 AM.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Dang, Taylor Townsend's singles run came to an end after Krejcikova saved 8 match points in an epic 15-13 tiebreak
it's gotta be taxing to make a singles and doubles run at the same time
edit: the comments against the American crowd happened again: “To be honest, I’m totally enjoying this crowd. Even though it’s not for me, it’s for the Americans, it’s fine,” Krejcikova said. “I’m looking forward to seeing you again in my next match – I think against another American.”Last edited by l3ulvl; 09-01-2025, 02:05 AM.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
