    Gesture-based gaming?

With Sony's Eyetoy, and the 360's Live-cam, both companies have the ability to combat Ninty's wand...but when will either company really push that tech?

With an add-on, the devs have to consider installed base, but if Nintendo continues with its strong momentum, the Sony/MS may want to reduce the price of their cameras, or give devs financial incentives to add gesture features to their games. Sony may decide to stick with Sixaxis support, but it seems to me that cam-tracking would have the flexibility to be much more in-depth.

I'd love to see either Sony or MS develop a set of gloves that would really track user hand movements. Imagine a boxing game with accurate tracking, or shooters that track your hands and fingers using any type of toy handgun or water pistol. Or how about RPG's like Oblivion using hand/finger tracking to implement spells and magic, or even the swordplay. Hell, how much hype would an in-depth remake of Heretic with dozens of spells mapped to specific hand and finger movements get?

I know they did cheesy game glove way back in the day, but I think technology has finally gotten to the point where they would actually be useful. Nintendo has really pushed gaming into a new era, and the other two comapnies better recognize this and not rely on pretty visuals.

Do you guys think either company will be aggressive with this?

I remember seeing or reading about the very same thing on the web. It does exist I just don't know when it will be released.

This is sony's presentation of its PS3's eyetoy prototype, that is expected to hit this year.
