Are you gutted that the Xbox 360 controller doesn't have a tilt function, just like our PS3 friends? Well worry no more, we introduce the Xbox 360 tilt controller mod!

Just because Microsoft didn't get sued over their rumble function shouldn't be a reason for you not to enjoy a tilt controller on your 360, so a modder named Adam Thole created one, which he just finished.

Adam plans on making more of the controllers, and his original one is now up for sale on eBay here. To get the tilt effect, Thole, who is a electrical and computer engineering student, modified the left thumbstick to measure the amount of tilt currently being applied with a device called an accelerometer.

How exactly are the games recognizing the tilt mod to the controller?

I read an article about that over at Teamxbox. I think he totally replaced the X and Y axes of the left stick with his accelerometer system so you can no longer use the left stick, only the tilt mechanism for control.
