    PS3/360?

I'm having a little bit of a problem. I am a Nintendo boy, that's what you could call it, I think... but I'm not buying the Wii for various safety issues.

My question is, should I buy the PS3 or the 360? I'm looking for something that will last me the longest, both in the hardware form, and in how long they'd make games for it.

And if I were to buy either of them, should I wait until the summer so that they could become cheaper?

If you were to get an Xbox I would consider waiting until they start getting the new cores (not sure of the time frame, but it has been discussed here).

      That's mid 2007 for the newer CPU's.

well can't you just get a 360 now with the 1 year replacement thing and get a new 360 when it comes out?

Murphy's law states that you console will run flawlesly until about 3 weeks after your warranty expires.

One thing you could do is buy one with an extended warranty from Best Buy and tell them in the fall that it's too loud or freezes up and get a new one as they will give you a new one right away at your word instead of getting it repaired at MS where they may check your system to see if a replacement is warranted not to mention you'll go weeks before they send you a new system.

Yeah that's what i'd do, don't buy the MS warranty, they will just repair your unit, not replace it.

ACtually from what I heard they do repair them but you don't have to wait for yours to be repaired they just send you a refurb once they get your console at teh repair center. In essence, you get someone else's broken 360 unless oyu get lucky and they send you a new one.

I've had to send my box in twice and both times, I was sent brand new consoles. Still had the plastic on the disc tray and a recent born-on date.

Now...do they put new plastic on it and give it a new born-on date when they refurb units? I suppose that's possible. But neither of the consoles I had sent back to me had any traces of prior use.

PLEASE just decide for yourself, or can everyone actually behave in this thread. These things always turn into a war of words about which console is superior. If you have suggestions to him just tell him whats good about the one you prefer, you don't have to go into a rant about how bad the other is, that doesn't help at all. Just asking you guys to NOT turn this into a PS3/360 war, just give your FAIR opinions on both consoles.

Get a PS3, it seems to be a great system to many people. And if your wanting more than 1 baseball game and you want blu-ray movies, its worth $600, plus cost of HDMI cables, no rumble features, and more. Then PS3 is the way to go...

Get a 360 if you could care less for the Show, and if don't have a 1080p television, and if you don't really have use for a blu-ray drive....and you enjoy to feel your games action while playing.
But you enjoy great online games, downloads, arcade games, demos, tv shows and HD Movies downloadable...without the need of a HD Player....Its worth $399 plus the cost of $50 for 13 months of unlimited online play and downloads. Then 360 is the way to go....

                      Your choice....

I just had mine sent back yesterday and like yours it had the plastic and a new date (Oct 06) my original 360 had a Apr 06 date. They just said it was a replacement unit so I wonder if it is new or refurb.

Why do you keep bringing up the fact that it costs $10 extra dollars for a HDMI cable?? And also 1080p, as has been said by many experts 1080p is not a necessity if your TV is under 50 inches...

PS3 also has great online games, downoads, and arcade games, and demos... Most don't care for the TV shows and HD Movies that microsoft is offering because it takes 2-3 days to download one..

For Ps3 you pay $100 extra and get a blue ray player if you get the 20gb...

I would look at the games and exclusives. With the 360 you get Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Crackdown, the new Banjo something or other, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddessey and a few more.

With the PS3 you get MGS (maybe exclusive), FF 13, DMC and a few others (most of which wont be until 2008). You also get the BR built in, but you can get a non-HDMI HD player for the 360.

If you want online play the 360 is superior to the PS3. It all comes down to the games.

I need some advice as well. I don't have that much money so it's between the 360 and the 20g PS3... I play mainly sports games. ALL OF THEM...Don't go online much except for downloads for roster updates. Sometimes free demos...
