got my 360 back friday go to turn it on then try to eject the tray and it wouldn't open, tried to but woundn't so i called ms the first guy said all he could do was send out another box for repair at this point i'm pissed so i tell him after waiting over two weeks this is all you could say. I said is this a refurb he said yes they rarely replace it new

so i asked to speak to a superviser and he told me to take the faceplate off and try it a couple times, it worked then and after i put the plate back on so i go to play today and same problem they tell me my warranty is up april 22 that i can renew it for 29.99 for one year or 50.00 for 2yrs i'm at a point of seriously looking to get a ps3 this is ridiculous

That stinks man. If I am not mistaken, If you buy at best buy, CC, or gamestop they will give you a new system if you buy the extended warranty... Someone please help clarify this because I was thinking about going online to get my 360... If I did that I would have to get Microsoft warranty. I don't mind if my system breaks but I want a new one in return. By buying the extended warranty I think that we should get at least that much. Just a theory. Do you think that microsoft is taking the damaged systems they get back and test parts from it, and then put it in a system and sell it as new????

I would have pressured him into hooking me up with a supervisor. These systems are unreliable out of the box, one guy on this forum is on his 5th or 6th system. That's unacceptable IMO.

If you decide to go the PS3 route it's going to cost you alot more cash and it doesn't have the game selection the 360 does. My best advice is to get another system from MS, sell it on ebay then go buy yourself a new one from BB and get a 2 year warranty.

are these things actually selling on ebay i might have to try this i really like this system but they are making it hard to have any faith in these things lasting

Get a PS3! This is just sad, and to make it even worse you bought a NEW system, why in the HECK do they send you one that has already died once or why would they have it. This is just plain STUPID!!

I hear you, but your machine is not new once you play it. So I can see why they give back old machines. Still sucks, but oh well what can you do.

yeah then i put it back on and it worked but then i went back to play it later and it didn't open

sounds like the faceplate is crooked or misaligned some how. When you go to open the drive (with the face plate on), do you see where it is catching or hitting the face plate ??

it tries to open but it seems to jam on the corner but the faceplate seems ok

If mine comes back and messes up again, I'm through with it. I don't play enough anymore to put up w/ the unreliable machine. And Rod, I'll be on my 6th... the last one was partially my fault, but still, the 4 prior weren't.

It still amazes me that people don't know how to protect themselves from hardware problems.

1) Get your system at Gamestop with a one year warranty and you can get a new system if anything is wrong. Also, before the warranty is up return your system for a brand new one.

OR

2) If you DID NOT get a warranty, goto best buy or walwart buy a second 360 and swap the system barcode on the back and return the lemon system.

Does it open when you select the open tray command in the dashboard with the controller? That will tell if the face plate is preventing it from opening or if it is just the button not hitting the right spot on the console.

I have my launch 360 that still runs great and my EB warranty expires next month. I would take advantage of the warranty except i'm still hearing that new 360's are still crapping out.
