For one thing, it sounds more like rumble than force feedback. For another, I'm not sure how it's possible to have a mechanical, rumble-capable controller with no moving parts. And for another thing, I'm not at all interested in adding more weight to the PS3 controllers just for a little rumble. But it's still interesting nonetheless....

Interesting read, but I just don't see the need for rumble. I guess b/c I am pretty much a sports only gamer, I only have a limited perspective. I always turn it off on the baseball games and I didn't miss it when I had a PS3. IDK, personal preference I guess.Formerly Favre4vr -

I've loved rumble since goldeneye on the n64. It seems laughable that it not be included by standard in today's consoles. If they can find some way to put some rumble function in, great.
Or they could stop being bitches and settle like everyone else that immersion sued.Comment

Agreed I miss rumble and it always adds to the immersion of the game. GTHD doesn't seem the same without Rumble or Force Feedback.

If you're a sports only gamer then you of all people should appreciate the rumble feature the most. Playing football games it adds to the experience as to varying degrees of being hit, rubbing against someone, in baseball games it helps you find the strike zone, in basketball and other games it can add to the feel of the crowd roar, etc.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

I love when you dunk the ball and you feel it in the 360 controller. If you're a sports only gamer then you of all people should appreciate the rumble feature the most. I hear ya and I can see how you would feel that way. I know with baseball, I always turn it off so I can have a more difficult time with pitching. That, to me, gave me more realism. I like to actually walk guys in baseball. 2K7 hoops on the PS3 was fine without it. Yes a dunk was weird at first, but I didn't take away from my experience. Madden is where I missed it a bit. The big hits were a great example. If you're a sports only gamer then you of all people should appreciate the rumble feature the most. I guess I am one of those that can take it or leave it. If it's there, great. If not, I don't need it. I don't think people are wrong for wanting it in, I just didn't miss it.Formerly Favre4vrComment

I didn't really miss it at Madden as I missed it at NBA 2K7. It was just weird and first dunking and posting up and not having the controller rumble.I hear ya and I can see how you would feel that way. Re: Possible PS3 rumble solution for Sixaxis?
Playing the GRAW2 demo last night made me appreciate rumble. I love how you feel the rumble when you fire your rifle or when you get hit. Sometimes you don't even see it but you feel it when you get hit in the controller.
Racing or fighting games to me don't feel right without rumble. I also love the feeling when your tires go over the kerbs or when you start to lose grip. Gran Turismo games in the past had this refined to a tee. GTHD just doesn't feel the same to me without rumble and buying a wheel without force feedback would be a waste of money for me because it doesn't add anything to the "immersion"...no pun intended.
So if I decide to get GRAW 2 it will definitely be for the 360.Comment

Re: Possible PS3 rumble solution for Sixaxis?
the problem with that is that developers still woldn't put it in the game, since the majority of people probably wouldn't use 3rd party or other controllers.http://www.dragon-electronics.com/cg...S&id=DRG000069
On a side note, I would love to be able to use my Xbox 360 controller on my PS3. Due to the semi-open nature of the PS3, I think it may be possible.Comment

Re: Possible PS3 rumble solution for Sixaxis?
True but there are games, namely Ridge Racer, that feature full force feedback even though technically it's not supported. I think 3rd party developers, especially cross platform games, will support rumble if there is an influx of 3rd party controllers that support rumble. It costs them nothing to keep it in especially if it's in the 360 version. I think Sony will eventually break down and offer a solution, especially since Kojima said he really wants rumble.Comment
