If Halo 3 and GTA4 are coming, and you're still a fence sitter, I don't think a small price drop will matter then. You probably already had your mind made up if you're going to buy a 360 or not.

As it stands right now, 360 sales are good. There's no need for Microsoft to cut into their profits with 2 huge games coming out this fall.

I think you're underestimating the power of a perceived "deal" and overestimating the average consumer's intelligence when it comes to those deals. And like a poster mentioned a couple of posts back, it would give MS the opportunity to deliver a knockout blow to Sony, because the moment the 360's price drops, so too will the Wii's. That combination would be too much for Sony and MS would rather have the Wii as it's main competition because it's more a complimentary system to the 360 as opposed to the PS3 which is direct competition.
