I'd like to think it would be common sense to have it used for text entry in games. Crazier things have happened, though.

Is the headset used with the keypad the same as the original or with an altered jack and such?

There is a jack in the keypad.
HMC, not with an add on device, but not a bad idea if done right.

This also says you can attach a regular USB keyboard too. So why would you want to buy that when you can buy an extra keyboard for cheap.

Less wires, less clutter in general in my opinion. No need to set the controller down to type. If something like keyboard play calling is implemented in sports games you wouldn't have to put the controller down, or remove a hand from it to call a play.

Speaking of which, just thinking about something like that being implemented in the future just gets me exited. For instance, in stead of using Down+X while to call a post play while trying to avoid a defender in NBA2K7, I could just reach over with my right thumb and press "1" on the keyboard.

I'll be purchasing one as long as it's not much more than the XBL Vision camera,I could live with it being between $40-60 bucks.

To get a bit more insight into the mysterious Xbox 360 QWERTY Keypad Device, we called on the expertise of Xbox Live’s Group Program Manager Jerry Johnson.
