PS2 Controller on PS3 Console

I just purchased this product yesterday:

post 1.7 firmware update...

I played GOW I with the sony brand wired dual shock controller. The buttons mapped 100% fine, and rumble was present. Other games I played fine:

FNR3 (PS3)
RidgeR 7 (PS3 demo)
GTA:SA (PS2)

I can't say it's 100% compatible with PS3 games because with MLB2k7, the L2 button didn't work at all. But it's weird how FNR3 seemed to work 100%. I just posted this just in case someone was like me looking for a way to play PS2 games w/rumble on the PS3. There probably is a cheaper way, but I chose the sony brand (wired) PS2 controller.

edit: oh yeah, the sony dual shock controller works great for my mame emulator on my computer

isnt the USB Adapter for PlayStation®2 Controller supposed to help out with getting guitar hero to work too?

the other day, gamestop reps. told me that GH didn't work at all. i don't know if they tried it or were just making it up...and i don't know if they meant pre/post the 1.7 update...since the 1.7 update fixes the need to press the 'ps' button on the sixaxis controller to start

Guitar Hero 1 works, 2 doesn't. The whammy bar doesn't work on the guitar either.
