Re: 360 or ps3
my advice.... if you have $600 dollars to spend then get the PS3, at least that is what I would do. I prefer the PS3 to the 360 even though its short on games and the online mode is light-years behind. In my opinion, the PS3 has a bigger upside.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a huge library of games to play, don't have the $600, or are looking for the best online gaming experience then definitely get a 360.
One more thing, you need to decide if their are certain titles you want to play. Do you want to play Halo or SOCOM? Do you want to play MLB2K series or the MLB The Show series? That will go a long way in helping you decide which console to get.
The best thing about your dilema... you can't go wrong!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 360 or ps3
I would also like to add to what CB said. You should also factor in the reliability of each system. The 360 has sold more but has had a bad track record for breakdowns where the PS3 is not perfect either but at least appears to be more reliable and has a better build quality. It also looks great.
Where you need to make a good decision is what CB was trying to tell you. Are the exclusive games you like on the PS3 or on the Xbox 360? Don't forget both system will get 85% of the same multi-platform games.
For the record I have all three systems including a launch 360 which still works great and a launch PS3 and a Wii.Comment

Re: 360 or ps3
The best example I can give about Live is it's how America Online first started out. It held your hand if you were a noob to the internet and everything was easy to find. Xbox Live was setup that way to make it easy for you to find things, download and have fun playing with friends online.
If you were to ask me the best overall online experience go Xbox Live no question, it's the best. Now later on this year Sony will introduce "home" so things may change a little. We'll have to see when the final product get released late this year.
Playstation Online is free and Xbox Live is not but costs $3.85 per month.Comment

Re: 360 or ps3
honestly, choose the system that has the better 1st party games for you. The 3rd party games will be virtually identical for both, like they were for the xbox and ps2. The ps3 may be more powerful, but at this point, the 360 has the bigger lead. This will lead to more developers making games for it, then porting over...also like with the xbox and ps2 last generation.Last edited by bkfount; 05-13-2007, 05:53 PM.Comment

Re: 360 or ps3
Well, I'm in a similar predicament. Specifically, my 360 died the other day, and I VERY tempted to buy a PS3 now, considering the failure rate for the 360 seems damn near 100%. While I'm not on my fifth 360 like some guys, it does seem like it's only a matter of time with that thing - guys who haven't had theirs crash seem to be in the minority. I bought mine a good 10 months after launch, thinking that whatever was causing the persistent problem would be fixed, and it still only lasted about six months. It just seems more and more like a totally unreliable product.
The money thing seems less and less an issue as time goes on, too. It's tempting to think, 'damn, the PS3 is $200 more'; but the 360 now sells a HD-DVD add-on that runs $200. Poof, no price difference at all.
The biggest drawback of buying a PS3 right now is the game selection, but it's not like I could go out and buy five 360 games right now either. Even if my 360 didn't crash, I was pretty much stuck playing MLB 2K7 and waiting for NCAA and GTA IV. All three of those games are PS3 titles, too
For me at least, the bottom line is reliability. I just don't trust the 360.I am become death
Do not underestimate my apathy
Chances guys who claim a game sucks will cease posting in a forum devoted to that game: 3%Comment

Re: 360 or ps3
That coupled with the fact that M$ has started taking steps to prevent file sharing (who knows how far they will take it) the PS3 may be the way to go. If it weren't for the fact that I just bought Guitar Hero II for my 360, I would probably being selling mine to get a PS3 since exclusives such as Halo 3 don't interest me.Comment
