    Dreamcast?

I saw an old Dreamcast in a store the other day for 30 bucks (maybe even less on ebay?). Since I am an avid sports gamer and my curiosity of the old 2K games still exists, I was considering it for purchase. After all the games were only 50 cents and a dollar (NBA 2K1, NFL 2K1, WSB 2K1 and lots of others). Could be worth it in the end, especially playing it at school with other people.

Is the console trouble? I've never owned, or played a DC. What about the games? I'm interested in the old games since I always read the gameplay was unmatched at the time. The old rosters don't bother me. What are some other can't miss games?

So how about it...share your DC experiences, and maybe it will be enough to push me over the edge and pick this whole package up. Or maybe it will end the hole that is burning in my pocket.

Reminder of some of the sports games I'm talking about:

    NCAA College Football 2k1?
NBA 2K2 (I think 2k2 was released on this system)
    NFL 2K2
    NHL 2K2
    WSB 2K1

It was a great system for it's time. College Football and WSB were trash though, I'd pass on both.

Personally, I'd never play it again, but I've seen brand new Dreamcasts on Ebay for under $50, used for under $20.

If you really want it though, NFL and NBA were amazing for their time. I don't know how well they held up, NBA is a lot like it is now actually. Since it's the same engine from back then as well. You'll need a VMU to save games.

    Good luck!

It was a great system, definitely worth checking out if you can find a good deal.

I went through 3, all broke on me. The only thing I hated about NBA 2k on DC was the lack of crossover animations. You could only do a behind the back for good ballhandlers until 2k2. Then in 2k2 you could only do a behind the back or one between the legs dribble.

The players can't be edited either.

And what I disliked about NFL 2k2 was that there were running styles for every player, it was either power or finesse. Power backs couldn't do any jukes, finesse backs couldn't lower their shoulders. And there were even Power receivers like Keyshaun Johnson. He wasn't going to juke out anybody.

I still have mine, but no games.

I loved the DC at the time, but I have no real interest in playing it again. I don't think I'd want to go back and play the sports games again. There are some good rpg's though like Skys of Arcadia, and Shenmue 1 and 2 were 2 of my favorite games ever. And there were a number of good racing games, so I guess it would be worth if if your interested in some of those.

Hardware wise,I never had a hint of trouble with my DC and it is still connected and going strong.
Virtua Tennis and Tennis 2K2 are still really good titles, as is Ferrari F355.Test Drive LeMans is another racing game that holds up well.
The fishing games are good if you can score the fishing controller.
The quirky Japanese stuff like Space Channel 5 and Jet Grind Radio are still very unique and well done.
There are good 2D fighters and Soul Calibur and DOA2 are still good, especially with the official arcade stick.
Hard to go wrong for how little money you need to get started with the system.

And Toy Commander was a real fun pick up and play game! Imagine your old toybox as a kid...then kinda bringing it to life...if that makes any sense.

Loved the system, to bad it died out though .

My favorite games were the NBA and NFL 2K series, Soul Caliber, Power Stone, and Sonic.

There was a thread about this about 2 mths ago. Do a search if you want other guys' opinions for games for this system.
