Anyone play the Wii laying down?

I was told at Best Buy that the Wii is not a good chilling out/laying down system. When I play games, I want to be in absolute relax mode. I even have mastered guitar hero laying down.

So does anyone play the Wii (not the vc) laying down and relaxing? Thanks!

It works fine sitting down, but some games require the use of both of your hands for motion control, so you would need to be able to swing both of your arms freely which would be an issue if you were laying down.

I'm sure it can be done, but it doesn't seem to be the ideal situation.

I thought the topic was about having the system horizontal, which I do since it allows easier access to the Gamecube controller ports.

I personally haven't played a lot of Wii games just sitting down, though when I finally get around to tackling Zelda and 'Paper Mario' I sure as hell won't be standing for 20-40 hours. For me it's just the mini-game collection games where I'm standing, but hell, you are usually having so much fun (especially with friends and family) that it's not an issue.

I sit when I play most games, the only onces I stand for are Wii sports and a few in Wario Ware. I don't really lay down and play any games aside from RPG's because they don't require much in the way of quick movements. Unless your bed or recliner is pointed at the television it would be hard to lay down and play the Wii since the sensor bar has to be able to pick up your movements. Unless you're play a game where you don't move the controller much (e.g. Paper Mario).

This was one of my biggest concerns since I'm a lot like you it seems, I like just laying down or sitting back in a comfy chair when I'm playing games. It's not as bad as you may think. You dont need nearly as much energy as some of the commercials show. In most cases a flick of the wrist is just as effective as standing there putting your whole body into the motion. You can 100% play any game without standing up in my opinion atleast. It does take a little more effort than just using an XBox or PS2 controller but it's really just because of the joystick and controller not being attached so your two hands are moving freely i guess.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I know it makes me sound like the laziest ba$tard on the planet, but I always just relax when I play. I think I may take the Wii plunge. Thanks for the input.

I play the Wii in a recliner with my feet kicked up, but not laying down. There's no way I could play Wii Sports very well that way, but I have no problems playing Zelda, Super Paper Mario, Sonic, and most of my other games. I don't play mini-games that much, but I've rented ones like WarioWare and I couldn't play it sitting down, so I didn't play it much. SSX Blur you can play sitting down, but not really in a relaxed way with you feet up. You do need to be sitting up straight for that game on the trick events, not so much on the race and slalom ones though.
