    Making the switch from PS2 to 360 . . .

. . . how hard is the transition going to be after playing PS1 and PS2 since '96?

What accessories are a must have, etc?

    Thanks.

The transition should be easy. The controller is much much better on the 360 and it's wireless, XBL is the gold standard for online gaming and the graphics are off the charts.

You should consider these accessories in the following order.

    1) 2 year warranty
    2) Plug and Play Charge Kit
    3) Extra Wireless Controller
    4) Wireless Internet Adapter

I agree with Rod on buying the 2 year warranty as a top priority.

I would put a memory card and transfer kit above an extra controller. If I remember correctly, shortsoldier plays NCAA exclusively and I am sure named rosters are important to him.

Good eye, bergie. I only play NCAA, so I already ordered the Datel Transfer Kit. Memory card is a biggie too because I play a dynasty with three friends every year. How big of one would I need for a dynasty and four profiles to fit comfortably? I have no idea how big the file sizes are on 360. Thanks.

The smallest size I believe is 64 MB and that will be plenty for you.

I too made that same transition a few months ago. I gave the PS3 a try since I had always had the Playstation consoles, but its just not up to par with the 360 on multiple levels, especially online. The transition is easy because the 360 is really made for any casual OR hardcore gamer to be able to just pick up and play, hence the "Jump In" slogan. You won't be disappointed, in fact you will probably be pleasantly surprised as to how much you come to like it. Good move on getting a transfer kit, and the 64MB memory card should be fine if you don't want to spend extra for the 512MB. Enjoy your new gaming experience.

I would skip the play and charge kit. Just get an extra battery and the dual battery charger. Less cords is less clutter. Plus why would someone want to use a wireless controller with a cord? Kind of defeats the purpose.

You could if you have more than 1 battery that needs to be charged. I think that's the main selling point for the quick charge kit, you can charge 2 batteries at once.

I find it more convenient for me just plugging in the controller into any USB port until the battery is charged. It's just a matter of preference I guess.

I'd go with the play and charge kit ove the quick charge.

I'm glad someone made this thread because I am looking to upgrade to next gen. I went to best buy yesterday and was looking around at the 360.

So someone fill me on with a little XBox 360 101 class:

Xbox Live - I saw this for 1 year with a headset for $79. This is a must to go on line?

I also saw Xbox Marketplace cards. I think it was 1600 marketplace points for $19.99. What is this for? It says its used for downloads, exclusive content, etc. Am I going to have to buy these cards to get the "whole game". It almost sounded like you spend $60 for a game, but you have to update games with these points.

I plan on playing this on a 51" Sony projection HD TV. Will there be any problems with this?

I know to get the 2 year warranty. Will there be more stable 360's coming out any time soon?

Anything else I need to know? I mainly only play sports NCAA Football takes up 90% of gaming, but wouldn't mind getting Ultimate Alliance and maybe Call of Duty and Halo when it comes out.

Oh and can someone let me know about Rosters for NCAA football? Will they be allowed on the 360, if not I doubt I'll make the purchase. If so, is all I need uis a transfer kit?

Do I need a memory card for anything or will the HD take care of all of that?

That's not what you need and don't buy it. The Premium 360 comes with a headset and you can find a 1 yr subscription to XBL for around $39.99, usually either Amazon.com or Newegg.com has those sales, you need to check.

If you're looking to do roster updates then yes you will need a memory card 64meg should do fine but there's a 256 memory card now.

In time the 360 will get their house in order but it may be a while so the 2yr warranty is a must.
