I have mine vertical know due to space constraints, have also had it horizontal, no difference in performance. The only thing to look out for is the possibility of it getting knocked over when it sits like that but in most cases, its not too much of a concern. Just whatever you do, no intercooler. Not necessary if you keep it in an open area. If you want a fan, get an external one to blow on the unit, but nothing that actually plugs into the unit.
