    Microsoft to reveal 4th console?

    http://kotaku.com/

The Gamerscore Blog posted a series of photos on its Flickr account of Microsoft team members rehearsing for tonight's E3 2007 keynote, possibly inadvertently revealing what many believe to be an all-new, fourth Xbox 360 hardware release. With the Core, Premium and Elite models represented, the fourth could be at any place in the specification spectrum, either signaling a less expensive, more casually targeted unit or a more expensive, more feature rich unit. If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the former as I wouldn't be surprised to see Microsoft be more aggressive in targeting a less hardcore crowd with a lower cost, possibly bundled box. We'll know more tonight, starting at 7:30 PM PDT.

You've got to be kidding me, what ever happened to the days of one console fits all. MS could now potentially have 4 SKUs, and Sony just announced their 3rd variation, but of course they already discontinued the 20GB.

I don't possibly see how more options could possibly be a bad thing.

I agree. They'll target a larger demographic with more choices. Honestly, I'd like a 360 between the elite and the regular 20 gig.

Confirmed by Microsoft employee to be just 3 Premium SKU's and a Elite.

I don't think it's 4th. As ExtremeGamer said, the outer 2 consoles are supposedly both Elites, and it looks to me judging by the HDDs and the chrome finish on the disk drives that the inner 2 consoles are Premiums. Perhaps we're seeing the end of the Core system.

they already offer a bare bones core version. Making a new console variant would just be utterly stupid. Developers and consumers would be confused as to which console to support. The elite has added features for a certain type of user, but it has no effect on the games. Right now, the core does. Companies have to make their games playable to users without the HDD.

MS is sitting pretty right now, even with their horrible hardware failures. The ps3 is limping and MS adding another console like the elite would only hurt themselves. Just drop the price of the core and it will reach the kind of people who buy the wii simply because it's cheaper.

Console gaming is supposed to be standard, unlike PC Gaming, add-ons should not be necessary. That's my complaint with multiple SKU's.

Its a puke green Halo edition console. Not interested, probly gonna be way overpriced as well since MS knows there are many hardcore Halo gamers willing to pay extra for it.
