If a firmware fix is needed for this, I don't see why it would be any different.
Yeah that's true, I forgot about that. When there's a mandatory FW update out there, you can't get into the PSN anyway.

It's true about that.......I was asking because my one brother doesn't have his system hooked up to the net, so he will have to d/l the FW to a USB drive. I guess the USB drives not working was a false rumor, people having fun.

What I find the most disturbing issue about this is that Sony doesn't say a single thing. Their last comments were last night. Are they waiting till 7 PM/ET hits to make an announcement if this is fixed. LOL! The one good thing with MS is that they have Major Nelson letting everyone know what is going on and keep the masses in the loop.............but not Sony.

Here's my point, PSN knows it's 3/2 tomorrow. The PS3's will still think it's 3/1. See what I'm saying. While I hope for all of you that it's the simple clock fixing itself, I fear a firmware update is going to be required, meaning flashdrives will be needed to update like aukevin said.
I'm still hoping that everything will correct itself at midnight GMT. The problem isn't that the PS3 has the date wrong, but it is trying to display a date that doesn't even exist in its internal calendar (2/29/2010). Once that day is past, maybe the issue will go away.

Your point about Sony staying mum about this is a good one, though. It's hard to believe that they can't figure out what the issue is, especially considering that it looks like they fixed it for the slim PS3s.

Turned my 60gb this morning totally unaware of this issue and I was able to play Fallout 3 but I got a message after loading the latest save - "some previously downloaded content is not available in this save file"

I was able to continue and play for a while without an issue, I assume this was related to trophies or the DLC I purchased (I haven't got to the DLC in the game yet, though).

I hope this is corrected by midnight. I'd like to get in a game of The Show before calling it a night.

So it's irrelevant if I have my PS3 on or off during this, right? Regardless, it will either be affected or it won't, independent on it being on or off?

That said, if this is true and I turn on my PS3 to check my internal clock, if it's dated at today's date will I be good?

I believe so Blz...I have an 80 gig Fatty, and when I turned it on this morning the date was correct. I was able to play all my games, including DLC, with no issues at all.

I'm glad I also have a slim PS3 so I can play The Show tomorrow if my fatty is still busted.

I'd hate to give up 2 backwards compatibility, but I'd do it in a heartbeat if this issue isn't resolved. I can get like $250 for a 60gb and just pay the difference. So either way I'm gonna hit me a splash-cam homer tonight!!

Man, guys are already talking about selling their systems and buying slims? Might want to give this a day or two before taking any major action.

I have read that around other forums too, good luck finding a slim. Personally, I wouldn't sell the system on ebay or Craig's until this issue is resolved. The person on the other end could come looking for you saying that you sold a busted up system.

Sounds promising, but what if I turn on my console and it does have the messed up internal clock? Like what I'm asking is would I be in hotter water than I'm in now with it turned off?
