Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Correct me if I'm wrong, but PS3's don't need the PSN to be able to download firmware updates, right? You just go to system update and it uses your internet connection - you're never connected to the PSN during an upgrade. If a firmware fix is needed for this, I don't see why it would be any different.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
It's true about that.......I was asking because my one brother doesn't have his system hooked up to the net, so he will have to d/l the FW to a USB drive. I guess the USB drives not working was a false rumor, people having fun.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
What I find the most disturbing issue about this is that Sony doesn't say a single thing. Their last comments were last night. Are they waiting till 7 PM/ET hits to make an announcement if this is fixed. LOL! The one good thing with MS is that they have Major Nelson letting everyone know what is going on and keep the masses in the loop.............but not Sony.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
If I was a betting man, I'd love to tell you guys that at 8PM everything will go back to normal... BUT, there is still a missing day in there which could still throw off the system. Here's my point, PSN knows it's 3/2 tomorrow. The PS3's will still think it's 3/1. See what I'm saying. While I hope for all of you that it's the simple clock fixing itself, I fear a firmware update is going to be required, meaning flashdrives will be needed to update like aukevin said.
Your point about Sony staying mum about this is a good one, though. It's hard to believe that they can't figure out what the issue is, especially considering that it looks like they fixed it for the slim PS3s.Ryan Spencer

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Turned my 60gb this morning totally unaware of this issue and I was able to play Fallout 3 but I got a message after loading the latest save - "some previously downloaded content is not available in this save file"
I was able to continue and play for a while without an issue, I assume this was related to trophies or the DLC I purchased (I haven't got to the DLC in the game yet, though).Comment

I hope this is corrected by midnight. I'd like to get in a game of The Show before calling it a night.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Fool me three times, **** the peace sign, load the chopper let it rain on you.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
So it's irrelevant if I have my PS3 on or off during this, right? Regardless, it will either be affected or it won't, independent on it being on or off?
That said, if this is true and I turn on my PS3 to check my internal clock, if it's dated at today's date will I be good?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
I'd hate to give up 2 backwards compatibility, but I'd do it in a heartbeat if this issue isn't resolved. I can get like $250 for a 60gb and just pay the difference. So either way I'm gonna hit me a splash-cam homer tonight!!Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Man, guys are already talking about selling their systems and buying slims? Might want to give this a day or two before taking any major action.Ryan Spencer

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
I have read that around other forums too, good luck finding a slim. Personally, I wouldn't sell the system on ebay or Craig's until this issue is resolved. The person on the other end could come looking for you saying that you sold a busted up system.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Sounds promising, but what if I turn on my console and it does have the messed up internal clock? Like what I'm asking is would I be in hotter water than I'm in now with it turned off?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
