Sorry...I should have gone into a little more detail. I am trying to get a wireless connection.

I did change ISP's. Also, my wireless wasn't working so I wired my internet to my PS3 and rebooted the modem and router. It seemed to be working okay but now it boots me off of the PS network due to IP conflicts (between the PS3 and PC). Any suggestions?

If your PS3 is set for automatic connection with DHCP you should never get a IP address conflict.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

Wired connection (right now) and these are the results I get when I test my connection on the PS3:

        Obtain IP Address: Succeeded
        Internet Connection: Succeeded
        PS Network: Succeeded
        UPnP: Not Available
        NAT Type: Type 2

Yet, I can't download the update to the Show or get onto the PS Store because it says an error has occured and must sign me out of the PS Network.

I think the Nat has to be at 1. Maybe a setting in your router. See if you can put the ps3 in your routers DMZ.

Just hooked up the router directly to the PS3 and I can't obtain an IP. Is there anyway to manually set the IP on the PS3? If so, what would I set it to? I'm not the most savvy technie person as you can tell.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 demo is garbage, it's only online. And I've yet to fight anyone. What a waste of a download. About to boot up the Dreamcast and play it.

It's just local multiplayer. But, I agree it is a garbage demo.

Yes, you can set manual IP in settings. The reason you're getting NAT type 2 is because you haven't forwarded the ports correctly. You'll need to statically assign an IP address to your PS3 then log into your router and forward the appropriate ports to that IP.

Do you have a tutorial anywhere? portforward.com doesn't seem to help me, and I have a wireless connection.

Okay. Reading up on my modem (Motorola Surfboard 5100), what I can understand is that it's strictly a cable modem, with no built-in router. This is why I have my Linksys Wireless router attached to it. I was finally able to log on to my Motorola modem, but there is no option of port forwarding. I was researching and found that these cable modems don't allow port forwarding (?).

It's really strange that my 360 works fine when I hook it up to the router, but my PS3 does not.

You want to forward the ports in the Linksys router, not the modem.

Thanks Fish, I got to the port forwarding screen.

However, it wants a port range....right now it reads from 0 to 0. What do I need to set the range from. 1 to 999999?
