Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
This week on Arcade: Fatal Fury and Droplitz
Deal of the Week: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD RemixFatal Fury: Garou-Mark of the Wolves and Droplitz will be available this Wednesday for 800 points each.
Next 360 Update to Speed Up the DashboardThe Xbox LIVE Arcade title Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix normally 1200 points is now available for Xbox LIVE Gold Members for 800 points.
It's been a while since we've heard about dashboard updates for the Xbox 360, but the next one promises to speed up the sometimes-sluggish menu flipping of the New Xbox Experience. Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) spoke on his podcast (via VG247) about what to expect from the next update. "We are making the guide faster," he said. "The team has done some really good stuff around making performance enhancements. Whatever we call it (and it's not going to be called the NNXE), it's better with a lot of very cool new features." He also confirmed that the update will be coming later this year.
It's open to speculation what new features he's referring to, but a faster dashboard would go a long way to preparing the system for Project Natal. While flipping through menus with gestures seems like a nice feature, the current NXE's slight lag when flipping through menus might make the gestural control frustrating. Speeding up the process should help quite a bit.Last edited by Flawless; 06-22-2009, 01:44 PM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

I'm just glad they're speeding it up...it can really suck to check a message during a game (or look at your friends list) because of the long load times.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Croteam making Serious Sam for XBLA
Majesco has told Eurogamer that Serious Sam will return this summer on Xbox Live Arcade.
Late summer, specifically, for 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40).
Dubbed Serious Sam HD, the game will re-imagine The First Encounter, and be created by original developer Croteam.
The chaotic first-person shooter, where enemies spawn and overwhelm from every angle, will return with online co-op for four friends. The surreal Egyptian setting will be spread across 12 levels, and we're promised dazzling, revamped visuals.
The charm of Serious Sam, which first appeared on PC in 2001, forms around controlling the swarms of baddies that are triggered when collecting ammo or reaching a new areas. There are bulls that charge, headless baddies that blow-up, ranged attackers, skeletal horse monsters and enormous bosses.
Sam's arsenal is as over-the-top as the situation, but deciding what to use and what to kill while dodging and scrapping is another matter. It's brilliant.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

First Screenshot Of Quake Arena Arcade, Reveals New Level
It's been nearly two years since Quake Arena Arcade was announced at QuakeCon, and since then we've not heard a peep out of either Pi studios - until now.
Through the official QuakeXBLA twitter Pi Studios have revealed the first screenshot... of a level select menu. While not amazing itself it does reveal one thing - Quake Arena Arcade will include new levels, as seen by the inclusion of "Cliffside".
Pi Studios' website has also been updated with a few new tidbits - the game will allow up to 16 players to battle it out at once, the original 40 maps from Arena and Team Arena, and all the bells and whistles that come with Xbox Live Arcade games.
We expect that we'll see more about Quake Arena Arcade at this August during QuakeCon, so keep a lookout until then.

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
except it won't look like that. The article mentions rich media ads, which have already been on the dashbaord once or twice recently that I remember. But all people do is react when they see the words "Live" and "ads" in the same sentence.
As for our money at work, I figured that the benefits of the subscription model were clear by 2009. MS uses the money to pass the costs of providing content from the publisher to the consumer. We get DLC for notable games like GTA 4 or Fallout 3 either exclusively or earlier than the ps3. Every arcade game has a free demo. It also allows smaller developers to put up titles like Braid, The Dishwasher, The Maw, Castle Crashers, and Rocket Riot, since MS picks up the bill for a portion of their sales.Last edited by bkfount; 07-01-2009, 10:13 AM.Comment
