Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III

In all of Tuesday night's excitement about classics like REZ and Ikaruga coming to Xbox Live, we neglected to tell you about another, slightly less well known, title that will be making it's way to the Arcade: Braid. It's an odd 2D platformer that puts more of a focus on your ability to manipulate time and solve puzzles than on your ability to avoid dying. Though we're not sure of an exact date, Microsoft is currently saying "early 2008."

If you're among the uninitiated when it comes to Jonathan Blow's unconventional game, see our hands-on impressions here. If you want to understand more about Blow and his way of thinking about game design, you should check out Stephen Totilo's interview with him. On second thought, you have to read it. It's a long piece, but it's fascinating.

        Sega Rally Demo is up.

The Xbox Live Marketplace has been updated this morning with a demo for SEGA Rally. The demo is 691.82MB and will allow you to experience two quick race tracks taken from the colourful, steep sided Canyon environment and the gloriously muddy and downright dirty Tropical environment. Players will also have the choice of literally tearing up the deformable surfaces in either the Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ3 or the Subaru Impreza STi Spec C type RA.

The demo is available in all regions apart from Japan.

        Enjoy!

Pellets, psychedelic colors and e-motes. Sounds like the stuff of... addiction. Addictive gameplay in this case, that is. "It's like Pac-Man on acid," states Strawdog. "But it's much faster, more frantic, and you're playing against another opponent all the time."

Viva Pinata Party Animals is up. It's under "bringing it home."

              It's actually pretty cool.

You need silver (which is free) to download demos and stuff. You only need Gold to play on Live, everything else can be done from Silver.

Even worse of a time to release a NHL demo IMO...but yeah, I plan on checking out Jericho, but it's really lost in the Halo storm right now.

Some shots from the JERICHO DEMO. Be prepared for a DARK game. Personally I don't mind because it's brings more ATMOSPHERE to the DEMO. It's also much of a Clive Barker style which I truly appreciate being a HUGE Clive Barker Fan

I frankly couldn't play that game...I'm "hoping" your brightness/contrast controls on your TV were just out of whack.

Seriously, 'BioShock' was pretty bad but at least they offered an intuitive calibration pattern (same with the COD4 beta) that only affected THAT game. 'Halo 3' was dark and I had to find a decent calibration pattern to adjust the controls on my TV.

                              Oy!

Nothing wrong with my TV Settings(ISF Calibrated HDTV) The DEMO on that level is DARK & DREARY. Like I said personally I loved it. It's definitely Clive Barker @ his best in reference to the DEMO being dark which brings out the atmosphere
