*edit* figured it out, nifty puzzles.

Fun game, not sure I've got the time right now to warrant a purchase, but it's damn fun.

Reminds me of Echochrome, making you think, but I found the Echochrome demo/controls to be kinda frustrating (wouldn't let you do what you intended)...Braid just feels right. I'll admit I had to check out GameFAQS for a hint, just because with this game you really have to change how you think and look at the environment.

Wow, at the ending in Braid. What an amazing experience. Easily my favorite XBLA game to date, and really, one of my favorite 360 games overall. The music in this game is going to be stuck in my head for awhile. Now to see if I can beat the challenge time in speed run. Also, there's over 12,000 on the leaderboards already, so that's great first day sales.

The Art Of Braid: Creating A Visual Identity For An Unusual Game

Hired as visual artist in the summer of 2006, my challenge was not only to clearly present Braid's mechanics and behaviors, but to help tell a story that was anything but literal: part anecdote, part artifice, part philosophy. This article explains the process of developing visuals for a nearly-complete game with a highly idiosyncratic identity, the challenges encountered, and some of the nuts-and-bolts of our methods and tools.
      Interesting read.

Might want to hold onto them, that is, if you have any interest in next weeks release of Bionic Commando Rearmed.

lol...nice walk through. I only use walk through for games that make you collect things not central to the story. Pigeons in GTA 4, Lamba symbols in HL2, dead birds in condemned, etc.

I don't get why people would use walk throughs for puzzle games. Have fun, this game is more like a hands off Portal type game than it is professor layton on the DS. Even then, you aren't stuck if you can't get a puzzle piece yet. Everything is achievable using what the game gives you. Certain worlds had cool tricks that make you go whoa when you figure them out, but the whole fun is finding it out yourself.

          I love this game.

I cheated for a bit to get my mindset in the right place in the demo, but when I buy it I won't be cheating. Maybe next week, depends on what my weekend looks like, but I'll be getting it.

supposedly November sometime. Although I assume they won't give it to us all in one download, what with the new dashboard, avatars, netflix, etc. I could see them doing a lot of these "nothing to see expansion" updates until they flip the switch allowing everyone to use the new update.

Yeah, only had a hour or so to play today, but it's damn awesome. I've got all but 2 of the pieces in level 3, a few of these puzzles are just maddening, but great. I'll figure it out one of these days, I'm not cheating until I'm about ready to stop playing.

                            Dishwasher: Dead Samurai Game Modes

It’s about as good a time as any to go over the game modes in The Dishwasher. Everything’s still being tweaked a little bit, but for the most part it’s all pretty much locked in.

Dish Challenge. Fight off wave after wave to compete for the highest score. This is sort of like the standard game arena, ranking overall score and a weekly rush score.

This one is all about combos. The way scoring works is a bit like Tony Hawk–the more hits and kills you get, the higher your multiplier is. It counts like this:
                            • Kills = 2x
                            • Hits = 0.25x
                            • Messy Kills = 5x
                            • Clean Kills = 5x

Your multiplier is accumulated while you keep a combo running. How can you tell a combo is running? There’s a little red progress bar under your combo count that let’s you know–once the bar runs out, your combo ends and the combo score x multiplier is added to your current score.

This leads to some super-addictive game play–the challenge for Dish Challenge is not to survive the level (well, it isn’t a cakewalk either) but to do it as one long combo. My personal best is in the upper 500 million neighborhood, but for months the highest I could get was around 180 million or so.

Arcade. Arcade game levels are short, one room arena areas. They usually go on a particular theme. They also lock you in with a two weapon loadout and one Dish Magic technique. They sometimes employ certain modes, such as:
                            • Vampire. Your health is draining, but monsters give more health when killed.
                            • Bullet Time. All monsters move at half speed. I’ve fantasized about doing this in real life for years now.
                            • Aerials. Monster are only damaged while airborne. Learn those air combos!
                            • Instakill. Everything deals 4x damage, so baddies turn into red mist pretty quickly.

You can play arcade co-op. It does get a bit crazy, and also I think I’m going to double the monster pool size for co-op play (otherwise it’s over too quickly).

Story Mode. Oh yeah, this is where it started! There are 14 levels of story mode over 3 normal difficulties and the elite Samurai and Ranked difficulties. Play guitar solos and complete time attack areas to earn Psycho Picks, upgrade your health, magic and weapons, and so on.

At some point I’m going to talk about 3 player co-op a little bit more, but hopefully this is enough for now .
