Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
So here's the thing about Blacklight, I like playing it. It's 15 bucks for a well made shooter that you can spend a lot of time with if you want. The servers are great(excluding the matchmaking) and I have not had one problem with lag at all.
The HRV is cool, instead of a map you have a visor that basically shows you where all enemies and pick ups are in the level. You just hit up on the D-Pad to use it and it only last about 7 seconds maybe and then takes about 20 seconds to recharge. You can't fire your weapons at all while the visor is on and it's not an instantaneous on off. You hit the button see your guys hand move up and hit the visor on then again when you turn it off. So if your in the middle of a level and check your visor and a guy is coming right around the corner usually your screwed since by the time you hit the button and your guy switches off the visor so you can shoot again usually it's to late and your dead. I use right when I spawn to get an idea where everybody is and then usually go from there and use it for a second or two once in a while.
Now the bad, matchmaking stinks right now, takes a few tries to get in a match but once your in a lobby usually your good, although this morning a game started when there were like 7 people in a lobby and made the teams 5 on 2 for some reason, that was the first time that had happened though. Host migration is also not great, if the host leaves you quit out back into the lobby after a load screen then when it picks a new host you load back into the game, it kept the score right though and actually worked. That's happened to me twice in about 2 hours of play so far.
The help menus are also terrible, they don't really do a good job of telling you what all the charms and unlocks do as far as attributes are concerned. There's just a little picture next to a line and the line moves when you switch. I'm assuming it's strength, accuracy and armor but I'm really not sure and I'll have to dig through the website and forums to see if there is a really good description of what everything does. Maybe I'm sort of an idiot that needs everything spelled out but when it's a downloadable game with no instruction manual I feel like things should be spelled out way more clearly when it comes to upgrades and stats.
In my opinion they nailed the gameplay, I'm not super hardcore about these kind of things but the weapons seem fairly balanced I like the HRV and the futuristic digital kind of grenades are a cool little switch up from the normal flashbang or smoke grenade. After a couple games I got used to the sensitivity but I heard some people say it was to stiff for them and the sensitivity didn't go high enough for their liking. Worked for me though, I bumped up sensitivity and was flying all over the place and went back down to default.
If your on the fence all I can say is watch the videos and try the demo, I was in the mood for another shooter, tried this out and I'm having fun with it. The matchmaking is the worst part so far but the game has only been out about 24 hours so I'm hoping that's something they can fix and it's not like it's completely broken, just the Gears of War type problems where it says searching, then search succeeded then sometimes it goes to lobby sometimes you go back to the main menu.Last edited by cake612; 07-08-2010, 10:10 AM.Comment

Mini update...looked around on the developer message boards and apparently the 3 visible stats for the guns are damage, mobility and health. I say visible because apparently there are tons of stats for each gun but they aren't visible?? Sounds like B.S. to me.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
Well I just finished playing the demo and I have to say this game is awesome, except for one thing. The spawns.
Team Deathmatch especially is a SPAWN TRAP FEST... Either my team was spawn trapping the other team or they were spawn trapping us. You can just post up by there spawn and just pick them off as they run out.... I literally got 20+ kills through spawn trapping one game... it's ridiculous.
This HRV (or whatever it's called) maybe good for some game modes, but not all. I think it should be disabled in Last Man Standing/ Team Standing modes. You shouldn't be able to see where the other guys are in a game mode where you only have one life. That's just my opinion though.
I 100% love the customization, the maps are awesome, the game modes are great. Although is it just me, or do the SMG's suck? Maybe it was just the one I was using.
All in all I'm 85% loving this game and 25% not loving this game... the spawns maybe the thing that turn me away.Last edited by SinisterAlex; 07-08-2010, 04:42 PM.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

I'm tempted to get RISK Factions sometime...my friends and I played RISK all the time while I was growing up, but it's been forever since I've played.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I plan to get Limbo, Monday Night Combat, and probably a 3rd game to get the discount. Looks like a lot of fun!Xbox Live Gamertag: CreatineKasey

so I got Risk Factions and it's pretty good. I had only played Risk once in my life before but my roommate got the game and convinced me to try the demo. I got hooked and decided to buy it. It comes with classic risk and the new Factions version, which is actually pretty fun.Lux y VeritasComment

From Teamxbox.com
Microsoft today confirmed that there will be no season 3 of 1 Vs 100 for Xbox Live Primetime. The game debuted last November after its announcement at E3 2008. The game pitted a crowd of 99 players against “the one”. They competed for points such as Microsoft Points and downloadable games. During the games two seasons the client was downloaded over 2.5 million times and the game set a Guinness World Record for the most players in an online gameshow.
The development team behind 1 Vs 100 has been reassigned to a new unannounced project by Microsoft according to statements made today. It is unknown whether or not this project is related in any way to Xbox Live Primetime or if it will be something completely original.
Microsoft’s official statement regarding the closure of 1 Vs 100 is below
"We're very proud of the '1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
I just found out about a game called Carcassonne, and decided to see if the arcade had a version, and they did.
So far it's awesome. I want to get the physical version of the game at some point, but I don't have many people to play with. So far it's pretty damn fun against the AI (although, I'm playing on easy).
If anyone's into board games and hasn't heard of this, do yourself a favor and check it out.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
Anybody else download the Deadliest Warrior game for 800 points ? Pretty good game, it was better then I thought it would be. Controls are pretty simple, characters have their own special moves which executed by a combination of button presses, like Y Y B.
Believe it or not, the game is challenging. took me llike 5 tries to beat the ninja with my spartan warrior. It kind of has that mortal kombat feel to it with all the blood and the ability to cut off limbs with special attacks. Why they even have finishing like moves in here.
Well worth the download.Comment

Re: Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade discussion Part III
Anyone playing the Magic game? I asked elsewhere, but this seems the more appropriate thread. I downloaded the demo and am having fun with it. I played when I was 14/15 (back in 94/95) but not since then. Decided to give it a go.
Anyone play online? Any fun? I'm thinking it's a fun game, but it costs too much in real life. Might be fun to have a cheap digital version.Comment
