I'm just curious, how much space do these original games take up normally? Not that I have any intention of buying them because most I own on DISC but my hard drive is almost completly full. It's a joke. Nothiong like haviong a 20GB hard drive that is really only 12-13.

All hard drives are like that. My 60GB for my PS3 lost 5 gigs right from the start as well. My Ipod lost 4 gigs off the top. It's the nature of hard drives.

I don't think you understand. I know all hard drives aren't the exact capacity that they advertise. But it's a little ridiculous that, 1) it's only a 20GB to begin with and 2) 7-8GB's are used for 'system files' and related stuff and even after you clear off all of the miscellaneous nonsense the most you can have is 12-13GB. Why on Earth didn't they make it a 27GB hard drive so I could at least have the actual 20GB and not some measely 13GB.

You don't have that issue with the PS3. Not to emntion that the PS3 hard drive I have is the same as yours and THREE TIMES the size of the advertised size of the 360.

And don't even get me started on the 360 memory cards. I have one of the old ones that is what, 64MB? But do you know how many MB's are actually usuable? I believe it's 50. What on Earth is the point of that?!?

some of them are over 6 gigs, like ninja gaiden black and jade empire. HDD size aside, my main issue is price. These cost $15 off XBL, but you can find most if not all physical copies of these for far cheaper than that in a variety of conditions.

As for the HDD losing size, it does so for many of the same reasons the ps3 does. Even the 1st xbox did it. From MS's own site..

As for the manufactured size, MS doesn't make them. However, that's an issue that could be mentioned for every HDD ever made.

The 20 gig HDD came out when there was no real need for the majority of space. We're talking about back in 2005. If you used it for only game saves and DLC, you should have probably been fine. However, as XBL expanded, MS had to bump the storage up to a 60 gig HDD, since most people will rather choose to never download large things than pay $150 for a gaming console HDD.

I did find an article that explains the supply chain MS uses for their 360 HDD's costs them an estimated $100 for the 120 gig HDD. Then they have the remaining $80 to share with retailers and distributors.

nevermind, XBLA took care of this for me. Tried some demos, and kept getting notices popping up telling me I got some achievements and that I'd get them by activating. Slick move...

Yeah it is. You're reading about the demos.

The My Xbox tab lets you manage your Avatar and profile settings - basically all of the options you find on the current Xbox Guide. Your played games and their achievements are also neatly displayed on the horizontal scroll with a new bonus feature; you can now delete played games you don't want displayed from your list, as long as you have 0 Gamescore on them."
