Worth Getting a PS2

Is it still worth getting a Ps2??? I was just wondering...Will it have support for a while?? Any help would be great

I think its still worth getting a PS2.

It will have support for the near future and well into next year. Sony is going to milk the PS2 for all its worth, especially since the PS3 hasn't been selling as well as they'd like.

And if you get one, I'd get the silver PS2 they are sweet looking.

Still a lot of GREAT games to play and explore.

I'm discovering a lot of games I never played when they came out. I am playing Metal Gear Solid 2 now on my PS3. That's the cool thing about the PS3 is that you have such a VAST library of older games to play. The funny/cool thing about it is these are 9-10 rated games from back in the day and you can get them pretty cheap.

I still haven't played through the God of War games, so I'm looking forward to that as well.

God of War is one of the best games I've ever played. Great Story, great combat, just an all around good game. I'm actually considering getting a PSP around March of 08 just to play the God of War prequel.

It's well worth it to get a PS2 simply for the exclusives that came out on the PS2. .

I just bought a PS2 this past December and have been having a lot of fun with it. There are tons of great games on there that I hadn't played, since I only had xbox, last gen. Now that I have a 360, and have to continually send it back to MS to fix , the PS2 has been a nice companion system to tide me over. I'm playing through God of War 2, now.

Yeah I may get one but I was trying to decide between a Ps2 and a Wii.....I have a 360 now so my sports games are covered....I want a change of pace sometimes...Thanks for the advice

Alright...Update....I no longer have a 360...I gave it to my cousin for school...I don't play that many games...Mainly sports games and shooters....I am trying decided between the Ps2 and a Wii.....I want something I can play when I get the itch..But I am not a daily gamer or weekly for that matter...Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

I have both. My brother-in-law gave me the PS2. I find that those two meet any gaming needs I might have. If you only want one, it really depends on what you're going for. The PS2 has a huge library of games. You can find just about everything you would want to play. I like being able to pay $4.99 for the 2006 versions of sports games on Ebay or at Gamestop. I stopped trying to keep up with sports games every year. I've also bought some of my old favorites like Hot Shots Golf, MX vs. ATV, and Gran Turismo and didn't pay much for them. The Wii is also very fun, but I find myself mostly interested in multiplayer games or games that my daughter and I can play together. I'm interested in a bunch of stuff that's coming out later for the Wii, and the ability to play older VC games is also cool. I probably haven't answered your question. My easy answer would be, if you're playing by yourself every once in a while, I'd go with the PS2. If you think you might play with other people and like the quick, fun aspect of games, I'd go with the Wii.

Backwards Compatibility for the win. That's what I did at least.

Just make sure you get the 60gb variety instead of the 80gb due to backwards compatibility.

Not all games are back-compat on the 80gb version,because Sony removed the "emotion engine" processing chip and will rely on firmware upgrades to enable limited back-compat.

If you are choosing between the PS2 and the Wii, get the Wii. I have both, and although the PS2 is the greatest console of all time and is still running strong, the Wii will have much longer legs in to the future at this point.

However, if you are a hardcore baseball (Power Pros / MLB '07), Guitar Hero, and wrestling fan (Fire Pro Wrestling), then it's a worthy purchase if you don't have a PS3. I will always keep mine because of Guitar Hero and Fire Pro, alone.
