    Wii Problem

So I bought a Wii today and it's pretty neat but twice now I've put Wii Sports into it and had it crash during the boot up of the game. It's worked just fine after I ejected the disk and restarted and it might be the disk itself since I managed to scratch it when I took it out of the cardboard box. Has anyone else seen something like this? I've thrown a couple of GC games into it without a single problem and after each re-start Wii Sports has worked just fine. So does anyone have any idea if it's the scratched disk or the DVD drive itself that is the problem?

Edit - This is the screen I got: http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii/dead-wi...rts-215885.php

If you bought it today, just return it and exchange it to be safe.

I had the same screen a few times when I bought my Wii back in April - one with Wii Sports and the other with Red Steel. It has been fine ever since - it hasn't happened at all. Great, now I just jinxed myself.

Good advice. I called the Gamestop I bought it at and they said they didn't have any more in stock but the manager apparently lives very close to another GS that does have some and will pick up one from there and shoot me a call tomorrow when he gets in with it. I was willing to drive out to the other one too but the manager wouldn't have any of it. I'm absolutely thrilled with the level of customer service.

Someone satisfied by their experience at Gamestop...that's news to most on here.

Hopefully you'll be able to put some quality time into the Wii, it's a pretty cool little system (try 'Super Paper Mario' if you get the chance, it's a blast).

It's not the disc my friend, it's your Wii... mine had the occasional crash when I first bought it, now I can't get a single game to play...

I'm currently awaiting a prepaid UPS shipping label from Nintendo so I can send my console in to be fixed.

Glad your return is going to be pretty pain-free. Hopefully the next system will work great like most of them.

                Re: Wii Problem

Got the new system and it seems to work a lot better. No disk problems and the drive actually seems a lot quieter. Thinking of picking up Super Paper Mario to tide me over until MLB Power Pros comes out... and then Smash Bros and Mario. Gaming goodness. Once again though, Gamestop really came up huge in terms of the ease of my return. I'm still kind of in shock at how well they handled it.
