Excellent deal Omerta! I highly doubt that the Best Buy near me would let me return opened games and accessories, so that that's a heck of a deal. I really think you'll enjoy the PS3. Have you picked up any games yet?

    Thanks.

Madden, NCAA, and Tiger. I play mainly sports titles, except for the Metal Gear series and the Splinter Cell series. Though I have to say, Assasins Creed looks very interesting.

Yeah, the Best Buy over here went above and beyond ... I definitely got a great deal / hook up!

Wow, that was a heck of a deal! I have trouble just getting basic exchanges & refunds from my closest Best Buy. My experiences have been such a hassle that I won't even buy there anymore. I'll buy at Circuit City or drive miles out of my way to go to other Best Buys that have better customer service.

I would say so, unfortunatly if anyone above him notices he was returning opened games then he may get into a little bit of trouble, Im sure nothing he couldnt wiggle his way out of though. My Best Buy will also return opened accessories, thats not the problem, games they wont though, and they wont charge a restocking fee on the accessories either. Some Best Buy locations on the other hand love to charge a restocking fee on everything just to pad their pocket.

On a side note, the restocking fees are rediculous, we charge a 15% restocking fee on a camera yet we only take 10% off the camera when we sell it as an open item, so we basically make an extra 5% off each returned camera, and yes I understand they have a slightly tougher time selling open box items but thats more due to pricing structure then the fact that its open.

That is a great deal. I'm happy with my PS3. Its very quiet compared to my brother's 360 and I don't have any worries over it breaking down. Don't forget to take advantage of the 5 free Blu Ray movie offer: http://www.bluraysavings.com/. Not the best selection but still free. If you ever pick up a baseball title, you will love the Show. Also, you can charge your controller on anything. Just plug the cord into your cpu to charge it.

P.S. Let me know if you find any differences between the PS3 and 360 version of NCAA. I know the 360 version is silky smooth compared to the PS3 version but I want to know if you find any differences in the running game. I'd like to believe its harder to run on the PS3 version rather than accept I'm lousy at running the ball.

This is the problem with the PS3. It keeps being rumored to have the "Tech" but depending on the sites that you look at, some say it does, and others say that it doesn't... the biggest problem seems to be how much memory the OS uses on the PS3... that also limits what the developers can do with the system.

It's much like the XBox 1. It had the superior hardware, but it never got to reach it's full potential since the Mass Market was with Sony which is where the developers went too. Now it's the same roll reversal. Sony now has the harder tech to develop for while MS has the easier tech with the Mass Market.

We'll see some good things on the PS3, but I don't think it's going to be as revolutionary and end-all be-all of consoles. As nice as it would be to think that, with all the tech sites around that have dissected both systems, reality says that both the 360 and PS3 will be on equal ground for another year or two to come.

For the guys in this thread that have gone from the 360 to the PS3. It's worked out well for them. That's what matters. Happy Gamers.

Actually, the PS2 was just as hard to develop for. Some launch titles (Tekken Tag Tournament, a few others) were even re-released with anti-aliasing.

So, the PS3/360 isn't a role reversal in that regard, but I agree that it is in others.

Question about the PS3 and BC. From what I understand, the PS3 is pretty much fully BC with PS2 games, even new ones. Do games like NCAA 08 for the PS2 work on the PS3?

Yes for the most part but the newer PS3s that are coming out (80 GB version) no longer have the emulator but rather rely on software to be able to play older games and are not as fully backwards compatible. Its a cost cutting thing by Sony. Many people are playing NCAA 08 PS2 on their PS3 though.

You're close on that one Rudy. The 20gb and 60gb models of the PS3 have the PS2 chipset built in while the new 80gb and the new rumored 40gb models are built on emulation, much like the 360 is. If you're planning to get a PS3, try to find either a 20gb or 60gb model that has a PS2 basically built in and you should have no problems with backwards compatibility.

                        Or forget the PS2 games...

You can check out Sony's playstation website and find out what games are BC on the 80gig.

Or, if the rumored 40 gig costs 400 bucks you can buy a PS2 for a 100. Then it would be like having a 60gig PS3 --- minus what ever extras they cut off of the 40gig (more than likely the wi-fi and media card reader... and a couple USB ports).

Wi-fi & the USB ports are in the 40GB FCC filing.

Funny you ask this ... I have found when playing the CPU, it is harder to run. I find I have to sometimes set the defense up first. On the 360, I didn't have trouble running.
Maybe it is in my head? ... but none the less, I think the running game in the PS3 version is more difficult ... IMO.

By the way, loving my PS3 ... should have gone with Sony in the first place, after all the B.S. security lockdowns MS is putting on the 360. And this is from a huge XBoxer last - gen.

I'm struggling with deciding on which system to pick too. I owned both the PS1, and 2 so I'm leaning towards the PS3. I'm familiar with it, and like the games for it.
