    Returning consoles

Just wondering if anyone ever buys a console with the intention of returning it within the return policy period. For example, I'm dying to play the Show on the PS3 but am not prepared to dish out the cash for the console. Instead, I'm thinking about buying it, playing the Show for a month, return the console for full refund and then do it once or twice again at other stores.

Anybody taken this approach? Does it become too much of a hassle? I could see myself doing it for 2 months maybe.

    1. I think that's lame. If you're not willing to pay for something then you don't get to own it.

    2. I don't know of any stores that will give you a full refund for an opened product. At best, they'd let you exchange a broken one for the same product only. You might luck out and get a moron behind the counter that let's you get away with it, but I wouldn't count on it. Stores have a policy against this for the very thing you're asking.

You would never be able to get a full refund I believe. Maybe an exchange for a new one at best.

If you cant afford a ps3, check your local pawn shop. Ive seen them selling at my local pawn shop for about $350- xbox 360s are going for about $200

          Thanks for the responses...

First of all, I don't think it qualifies as "shady". I'm not talking about doing it a thousand times...And obviously I would never do it to a small locally owned store or something like that.

Anyways, you guys are right in that it may not work to well (even though I've been told that full refunds are possible). Just throwing the idea out there!

Sounds kind of lame to buy it, and try to return it just to do it all over again. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with it.

You could always try renting a console from BlockBuster. I know they rented them back in the day, not to sure about now though.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too.

And just to clear it up with you guys, I'm totally honest when it comes to purchasing, gaming, etc...I just remember hearing a policy (in Canada at least at the big box stores) that you could return something within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked. If I had to somehow lie, etc...then I would feel a bit weird doing it. This is totally by the books from what I understand.
