    Sceptre X20WG-1080P

Ok i think i've settled on this monitor. 179.99, 195 shipped, claims 1080P though the reviews say that technically thats not possible but the monitor has excellent scaling capabilities so in theory i should get minimal letterboxing/panning/cropping. I think i'm going to have to start tutoring to get back this money that was previously going towards NBA2K8. MassEffect & Bioshock, but it seems like its worth it.

my lcd monitor has a standard resolution that is supported by the 360, so it's perfect. If you can find one that has a supported resolution by default, I'd do that.
Yeah, my widescreen monitor's resolution is supported by the 360 (as was my old regular monitor). Using my monitor was much better than my 32" SDTV back at my old apt. Now I have a HDTV, so I play on that, but monitors are definitely good for gaming too.

I ran the 360 on a 19'' Samsung monitor for awhile, and it looked pretty darn good. You're sitting so close to the monitor, it's not half bad. Ofcourse it's not as good as playing on a 50'' 1080p DLP HDTV.

I use a LCD PC monitor for my 360 also. I have to applaud MS decision to support VGA output. I can enjoy nice graphics while only have spent $200 on the 19' LCD.

One thing I didn't like is that my standard definition DVD porn collection does not look good with LCDs.

Great price IMO. You won't be disappointed a bit.

My monitor also maxs out at 1680 x 1050 resolution. When I tried a higher resolution than that, the screen would cut off from one side.

Since my monitor is a 16:10 ratio, should I round down and use the 1280x768
settings or continue with 1280x1024 which is a 5:4 ratio.

AM I at a loss either way?

I've seen many replies saying to do both of these, 1280x768 because its closest to 16:10 and 1280x1024 set to widescreen because you want the highest pixel density when you're going to be scaling up. I assume its up to you and what you think looks best. I plan on trying everything when I get my TV, most important though is that nothing gets cut off. The one HDTV i've played my 360 on is my parents old projection and that was 1080i and cut off the bottom of the screen.

                      Just want to add:

(This only works if your monitor has an auto adjust feature that fits the current image to the screen)

Something i've read you should do when your monitor is 16:10 and you set the VGA cable to 1280x768 is to go into paint or any program like it and create an image thats 1280x768 (I guess a wallpaper would do the trick too). Copy that image over onto a flash drive and bring it up in the 360's photo viewer, then use auto adjust to get the 1280x768 picture to fit all of your screen's real estate.

                        Tha_Kid,

I'd love to hear your impressions on this monitor. I've read some good reviews so far, but would like to hear directly from someone who's using it specifically for gaming.

                        Thanks
