    Tray on 360 Opening and Closing Repeatedly

    Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem...

    When I put in a game and close the tray (either through the eject button or the "close tray" option on the dashboard), the tray will close and then immediately open again. I can eventually get the tray to stay closed - sometimes after a couple of tries, other times after 15-20 tries. My worry is that eventually, the tray will never stay closed.

    Has anyone had this issue and can recommend a remedy? I tried googling the problem and the only tangible suggestion I found was to remove the face plate and put it back on. I will be trying that when I get home tonight, but wanted to see if anyone here could offer some assistance.

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

          Well, did removing the faceplate and putting it back on work?

          I never had this problem but I would definitely call XBOX if it happened to me.

              There are two magnets inside your dvd drive casing that helps to keep the tray closed. Of course to get to this you have to remove the shell from your 360 and then open up your dvd drive case which voids your warranty. I've also seen it work the other way, the magnets are to close together and the tray will not open. Best thing to do would be to just call Microsoft, assuming its still under warranty.

                  Yes mine does that but only when the console is placed horizontal. If i place it vertically it will remain closed but not open.

                  Basically if there is no game in there it wont open unless horizontal but refuses to close when its horizontal.

                  Man these 360 issues make me want a ps3

                      Pretty soon it's going to stop working. It happened to me awhile ago and was the reason why I had to send my xbox to microsoft the first time. At first it wouldn't close then it started getting stuck and eventually it got stuck and wouldn't come open. You should just send it in now or else one of your movies or games are going to get stuck.

                      If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
