PS3/HDTV Question

I am trying to hook up my PS3 to a new HDTV I just got. I have the regular red/yellow/white av cable that came with my PS3 but do I need the four plug one? Also do I need a HDMI cable?

HDMI is the best if your tv has a HDMI connection. The regular red/yellow/white cable is the basic one and will not give you hd. Doesn't the PS3 come with component cables (Red, Blue, Green and Red and White audio cables )???

You are exactly right. If you have a spare hdmi cable in your house use it. You can game in hd.

No, the PS3 (or at least mine) does not ship with component cables, just the A/V composite one. And yes, definitely get HDMI if your TV supports it - the short ones aren't all that expensive.

Yea mine didn't come with composite cables either. I was a little displeased. But oh well, thats Sony.

If you have a PS2 you can use those cables for HDTV. My Ps2 ones work perfect and you can get them cheap less then 10 bux!

Actually, it is. The ps3 has the same input as the ps2 with that rectangular shape. I use the same component cables on the ps3 as I did with the ps2.

Oh okay, right on. I didn't know the PS2 worked with component cables, I thought only composite.

The wife just came home with a 80 gig ps3 (now I can play the show when it comes out!!!) and I hooked it all up but it looks like crap. I guess this thread just helped me out, unlike my 360 I'm not gaming in HD.....so now I have to get HDMI cables. Oh well

if you don't have to have it right now, take a look at monoprice.com. you can a good size hdmi cable for 10 bucks shipped. Bo diggity!!
