If it were me,what I quoted above would be reason enough NOT to go with a "fattie". I guess I would go for the "peace of mind" instead of getting more games right off,as it seems (in the research I did before buying) all the issues the PS3 had, were more centered around the older models.

Also,if you do buy new,you get a 1 year warranty from Sony, not sure if you would be able to do that on an older console (although you still may be able to).

IMO....there are just to many "what if's" when buying a used PS3...I would look on youtube if I were you,and you'll notice that the PS3 models that had the issues were the older ones....I haven't seen or heard anything bad about the slims as of yet.
    Thanks for the help.

The good news is another guy just recently posted an ad selling a 160GB Slim today and he also lives in my area, so I'm going to try to get that one instead of the fatty. I definitely agree that I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing the Slim isn't likely to YLOD on me.

Coming from someone who had a 20GB 360 though, 80GB seems pretty big to me. I could be wrong.

And BTW, thanks for the help chef. You're making this a lot easier.
If you go used, make the guy show you that it isn't banned from PSN. Make him sign into PSN and play something online.

I was burned by that when I got my fat PS3 off craigslist. Got it home, went to create a PSN account to update my Madden roster, found out it was banned from PSN for some reason.

I made a thread about it awhile back. Must've been a year to a year and half ago. Went back and forth with Sony through email, they told me I had to pay off the unpaid balance of like 500 bucks or something to get it unbanned because the ******* that had it before me was faking credit cards or something. Ended with them telling me there was nothing they could do.

Got a Slim a few months later.

Speaking of which, the "Make them show you it works online" rule goes for Gamestop, too. They took my banned fat PS3 without a question.

Yeah, I turned in my fatty a while back with a jacked up sixaxis and got a new slim with a new dualshock 3 controller.

I'm really not proud of that.... it was for a friend who had a broken sixaxis... does that count??

In the past week I sold both my Xbox 360s and just bought the new Killzone 3 PS3 bundle on Amazon. It should come on Tuesday. I don't know much about the PS3, any tips or tricks and what are the top games I should get? Thanks and hope to see you guys online soon.

Nice. It's looking like I'll be getting the same bundle on Tuesday.

As for your question about games: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...haves-ps3.html

And BTW, 2 360's? Why didn't you just sell 1 and keep the other?

I sold my first one last week for 265 so I could get a PS3 then I remember that my Xbox Live ran out and I had to pay for enrollment fees for college so I decided to sell both. I already had 125 dollar Amazon gift card so I put in 175 and got the PS3. Long story short is I wanted a PS3 and needed to pay some fees. I wanted to keep it but in the end I had to sell the second one.

Thanks for the list of games, going to check them out.

If my 80GB fat PS3 should die, could I take the hard drive out of it and put in into a slim PS3 and have all my saved files?

No It'll require you to format it once you put it into the slim. Loosing all data.
