PS3 System Software Update (v.4.00)A new system software update (v4.00) will be released this week. In preparation for the launch of PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) in Japan, this update will prepare PlayStation 3 (PS3) to serve as a content management device. It will allow users to copy their digital content such as games, music, photos, and videos between PS Vita and PS3, back up PS Vita game games including save data to your PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of your PS3.
Other changes to take effect with this update include:
PlayStation Plus members can now choose to enable or disable each automatic update feature
Game patches
System software
Recommended games and videos
Sync trophy information
New PlayStation Network settings for filtering friend requests and messages

Bluray drive on my 1 1/2 year-old 120 GB slim went out couple weeks ago. I don't think I cleaned the dust out of the vents enough. Luckily, I bought extended coverage. Sony sent me a check for $270 no questions! New 160 GB here I come.
Not sure what I'm gonna do with the old one...

Looks like my 60 GB fatty kicked the can yesterday. I was playing CH2K8 and it shut off just before the end of my game with the blinking red light. I've looked up some fixes but I think I'm just going to fork up the money for a new slim.
It had a good run, I've had it since '07 (bought it with the refund from my baseball scholarship) and never had issues with it before yesterday. RIPComment

Yeah I'm going to give it a shot, but I doubt it'll stay on long enough.
Honestly, I don't mind losing my saves. It'll give me a reason to replay some of the games I haven't touched recently. The game I've played the most recently is NCAA 12 and I don't play it much anymore. I was just getting started again on my CH2K8 dynasty so I don't mind re-starting it.
I knew this day would be coming soon. I have a check coming from winning my fantasy football league that I was going to use on a ski pass but it'll go to a new PS3 instead.Comment

I finally was able to d/l the Euro PSN iphone app. It's not bad, very similar to the My Xbox Live app in terms of functionality. As you can see in these screenshots, you can view who is online and what their playing, your own trophies, your trophy card, which trophies for which games you have attained, compare trophies with friends, read the Euro PSN blog, read the Euro playstation.com site, and there is a youtube/twitter share & discuss functionality.
Now SCEA needs to get on the ball and get a similar app.Comment
