Ok I've got a head scratcher here. Was playing Rock Band yesterday and the screen blanked out. I have 32'' Samsung LCD. It no longer read that I had an hdmi cable plugged in. I troubleshooted everything. Reset the system . The AV still worked. So I bought a new HDMI cable and still no dice. Anyone have an suggestions?

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Mine's been havin issues too lately, George.
The old school "blow in it" trick has been working but I notice I have to do it fairly often. Use a can of air and blow out your ports and see if it helps. Ps3 and tv.
I also have had success with shutting off the tv a few times until works.
Strange this is an issue.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I finally was able to d/l the Euro PSN iphone app. It's not bad, very similar to the My Xbox Live app in terms of functionality. As you can see in these screenshots, you can view who is online and what their playing, your own trophies, your trophy card, which trophies for which games you have attained, compare trophies with friends, read the Euro PSN blog, read the Euro playstation.com site, and there is a youtube/twitter share & discuss functionality.
Now SCEA needs to get on the ball and get a similar app.N.Y Mets

Well I found the problem...one of the connectors in the ps3 was bent. So I tried to bend it back with a needle and it broke off. That probably means I'm screwed.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Alright for anyone in the know. I turned my PS3 off last night just fine, red light was showing as usual. I went to turn it on today using the controller like normal and it wouldnt turn on, got up and noticed the red light wasnt there, it was drawing no power but the power cord was plugged in. I firmly pushed the plug to make sure it wasnt loose and that did nothing. I unplugged it and plugged it back in at the PS3 and that fixed it but is this a problem I need to worry about going forward?Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
The other night, I went to turn on my PS3. Black screen. Tried everything including:
1. removing my HDMI switcher and plugging it directly into the tv
2. trying different HDMI cables
3. switching out the hard drive (from a 256GB to the 60GB that it came with)
4. trying all the hold down the power button combinations to reset the video.
Finally I tried plugging the PS3 from my bedroom into the same tv. When that didn't work I tried the PS3 in question into my bedroom tv and it worked. No problems. So I can only conclude that the tv in my living room no longer likes my PS3 after about six years of using it there. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
Thanks in advance.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Strange, this is a slim as my fatty died a few months ago and I was forced to replace it with this one. My slim has worked just fine since that post but I wasnt sure if there was a power outage while I was at work that it might effect the PS3 showing back up as normal.Last edited by The Chef; 01-14-2012, 02:36 PM.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Since it's working, I would guess a small surge, a small voltage sag or maybe a brief power interruption tripped some safety circuit in the power supply. As long as it's working and not close to being out of warranty, I wouldn't worry about it.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
I presume the warranty is a year with Sony? I've only had the system for maybe 3-4 months tops and its worked just fine since this happened but I get a bit paranoid after my fatty kicked the bucket out of the blue.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
A year, but chances are if you bought it with a credit card it may be extended. Mastercard doubles warranty up to 12 months.Comment
