Has anyone heard anything about a new system update for the PS3? Seems like it's been a while since the last one. Although I don't even know what else there is to improve upon.

I have a Hitachi CRT 1080i and the PS3 is flawless on it and I'm almost certain that it's not 1.3 compliant. Now my TV also supports 720P so if yours doesn't you might have an issue. I use a 4 foot 1.3 HDMI cord that is backwards compliant. I know alot of people will disagree but don't go cheap on the HDMI cord if you want to avoid some issues. You don't have to over pay for Monster cables (which are overpriced) but buy a shorter cord that has good shielding. Good shielding and as short a length as possible is my advice. In every instance you get what you pay for and HDMI cables are no different.

I also own a HITACHI CRT (57f510) it accepts a 720p signal as well as 1080i. What resolution dod you run your PS3 in? 720p or 1080i

There was a rumor that Sony said there will be less updates but the updates will have tons of stuff.

I assume there will be a update sometime between now and late March.

I have the 51f510 and I have it at 1080i for movies and any games that run in 1080i, games that are native720p run flawlessly and automatically in 720p and are not upscaled to 1080i by the TV's internal scaler. When you get a PS3 just hold down the power button until it beeps twice and it will automatically detect the 1080i native resolution on your TV and act accordingly with whatever you are playing. If you are using an optical cable from a surround system then just go into the sound settings and change to optical otherwise the video and audio will run thru the HDMI port on the TV. I use a 4 foot HDMI 1.3 cable I got from the Source for about $40. (can't remember the brand name) I read somewhere that people apparently had problems using the cheaper HDMI cables and fixed it with a better set of cables but I can't remember if it was our model TV's. Forget monoprice cables, they're cheap for a reason

I have had no handshake issue or momentary picture shifting or resoultion problems. I have read that the Hitachi CRT's have had some problems but it's a different model than ours. Check www.avsforum.com where I've seen it documented with other Hitachi's but ours are safe.

OK I just installed a wireless router and getting about 90-95% signal to the PS3 but when I try to install system update 2.10 it keeps freezing my PS3 halfway thru where I have to turn it off and on in the back to power it back on. It also won't allow me to sign up to PSN until I do get that update. Any solution to this.

Hello all, I have a question that I know has been asked before, but I cant seen to be able to find it. My new tv supports 1080p as its native resolution, but still when I watch blu-rays I have the black bars across the top and bottom. I thought these would go away with a tv that supports 1080p. By the way here is a link to my new tv.

It’s normal to get black bars top and bottom on a 16:9 widescreen on DVD’s/Blu-ray. But some movies are modified to so you don’t…

Different movies are filmed at different aspect ratios. Some you will see black bars, some you won't. It's normal and has nothing to do with the TV's resolution.

Anyone had any issues with streaming music from a wireless network to the PS3? I have an issue with the music stuttering here and there. It is not very often, but does occur. This never happened when using the 360, so it makes me believe it may be a setting or something on the PS3 I am not setting correctly. Any thoughts?

2:35:1 movies will still have black bars

                              1:85:1 movies will not.

There's other aspect ratios, but those are the most common. Basically, 1:85:1 and lower, no bars, anything higher, bars.
