Xbox 360 Question...

Okay everyone, I bought my XBox 360 about 8 months ago and just started getting the infamous three flashing red lights which indicates a hardware failure.

My question is, has anyone successfully had the flashing red lights stop without having to send it in to Microsoft? If so, what did you do?

Your safest choice is just to send it into Microsoft. You could try this however:The Towel Trick

Your best bet is to call MS, order the coffin, then try the towel trick. Use the 360 until it stops working again, and at that point you should have a 360 coffin at your house already that you can just send in right then, without having to wait for it.

Question: I got the 3 rings of death about a week ago. I am currently doing the "towel trick." Does anyone know, when my 360 dies after the towel trick, if I can just do the towel trick again after that???

Yes you can. I went to Youtube and watched the towel trick. Those guys said you can do it again and again and again.

I did the towel trick on Saturday and it worked perfectly!

Seriously, when the 3 rings of death come up, it's best to send it back to Microsoft to fix any problems - as long as they'll do it. Any tricks to get the system to work are good to play games until the coffin comes, but once it does - send it out get a repaired machine back.

I had the three flashing red lights shortly after launch (approximately Dec 2005) off and on for about two months. I'd usually power it off and on, remove the hard drive, etc., etc.and it would eventually work again, sometimes sooner than later. Then for the next ten months I had no problem with it until, about a year ago, the red lights came back and it completely died a day later. I still think those early flashing red lights were associated with COD2 online problems.
