Best Buy Product Replacement Plan ps3 controller question

Mods if this belongs in the official ps3 discussion move it there I just thought it was more specific so i gave it it's own thread.

My question is now that the DS3 is out I wanted to take my six axis controller that is under the two year Best buy PRP and see if I could return it to a best buy and just get store credit or a replacement six axis that is unopened so I could return it somewhere to get a DS3. I guess what im asking is if anyone has had any experience in returning a controller under warranty that is working. Will best buy check to see if anything is wrong.? I know on my PRP form it says that I have to send it in to them and then they send me a voucher...do I have to go through all of that or can I just bring it into a store?

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

you cant return the controller that you got with the system, that wont work.

Sorry should have been more clear, my friend got me a controller as a gift and he bought a PRP plan with the controller, so it's not the one that came with the system.

Assuming it has a PRP, just take it to the store and return it. They will give you store credit for it and I seriously doubt they will check if it works. I returned my g/f's PRP because she wanted the slim model and even though it worked they never checked it, gave me store credit and I got the slim one. Trust me, the employees there are normally far too lazy to walk across the store, unlock the PS3 display and test it, wont happen.

Ok thanks for the responses on last thing will I be able to just walk into any best buy and return it or do I have to go to the one where it was bought. Also on the PRP plan voucher it says I have to call a phone number and get a claim started with them, is that just nonsense? Sorry for so many questions I have just never really used a PRP plan before.

you cant return the controller that you got with the system, that wont work.

Wrong, if you get the extended plan with your PS3 purchase it covers the console and all the accessories.

You dont have to call, that number is there more for people that live in a location where driving to a Best Buy isnt feasible. I went through the same thing with my 360 and I just took it to the store and they took care of me within minutes, they just give you a refund on a gift card and you're on your way.
