I'm guessing backwards compatibility and usb ports.

If money isn't an issue, just wait and get the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle. It comes with the "new" DualShock 3 controller.

If money is tight, just go with the 40GB.

The 60GB PS3 is the best, IMO b/c you have complete BC but they are pretty scarce. I read somewhere that Sony is running into trouble replacing those that break down and can't be repaired b/c it's been long discontinued.

"The 60GB PS3 is the best."

I agree with that. I have had no problems with mine, and really enjoy the backwards compatability. I would try to stick with at least a 60gb HD as a lot of newer games are asking for HD install to quicken loading times. This is optional, but I find it helps times in some cases, while not at all in others.

Re: buying my first playstation 3

I was in Gamestop the other day and was discussing purchasing a PS3 with one of the managers, and like someone else has already stated, they told me to wait until the Metal Gear Solid bundle comes out.

So I figure I'll sock away some extra cash along with my tax return money and have a PS3 by mid-summer.
