I'm remembering the PS2's going through a death spell about a year to 2 year after launch. Reading a lot of forums with PS3 deaths over the last 2 weeks. I hope it doesn't start, but it's not sounding good.Comment

The fan test only works on the 40GB anyway.
EDIT - Psy, what system do you have? It seems it's 40GB and 80GB systems that are dying.Comment

What can be done to keep the heat down? I noticed (before it died) mine seemed to be excessively warm to the touch.Comment

Yes but the 40GB still runs cooler than the 20/60 because of the cooler chip set.
I don't know, I still don't think this is a wide spread problem as it is being made out to be.Comment
