ok, i have a 360 w/ the best buy 2 year replacement plan, and my 360 keeps giving me the "your disc is not readable" thing when i try to play online, and its my 2nd 360....so if i try to instead get best buy to replace the broken 360 with a new ps3 do you think they would do it? i originally paid 399.99 for the 360, know the price of a ps3.

No, what you do is go in and request the amount be placed on a gift card, either tell them you are in a hurry and will have to come back to actually shop, or tell them you need to do other shopping and dont want to hassle with it once your done. They dont generally care what you get, its all money for them in the end anyways, but I would avoid the story you mentioned above because saying something like that might cause them to actually think you are trying to abuse the system. When I returned my PS3 to get another one they just put the amount on a gift card so I know for sure its possible.Comment

I was able to switch my 360 at Best Buy with a PS3, but I went at the holidays when they were out of stock of the 360's. It should work regardless though...just tell them you are tired of the lack of reliability and insist on an in-store gift card which you then use towards the PS3. If you present you situation in a mature manner I would think you wouldn't have any problems.
Good luck!Last edited by Flyermania; 04-17-2008, 01:35 PM."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

well i guess i have to send it end to best buy and they will then send out a voucher for the $ owed to me, so it all has worked out i guess, just like 2 weeks without a 360 or ps3.Not so bad.Comment

FYI, you dont have to mail it in, you can take it to the store. The mail in program is more for people that live a great distance from a store and it isnt financially reasonable to drive in to return it. Its your call, just want to make sure you are aware of all your options.Comment

Strange, you asked the customer service people over the phone or at the store level? I used to work for Best Buy so I know for a fact that they will do that, but if the store says they wont then I guess you gotta go what you gotta do.Comment

Weird, well do what you gotta do. At my store here in Oregon, they do it all the time for customers, its a lot easier on the store and on the customer then it is to either force them to get something they may not want or force them to mail something off and hope nothing happens to it in transit. Maybe they changed their policy at some point and Im not aware of it, thats the only thing I can think of. Hopefully it all works out for you.Comment
