Well, when considering how much Sony is getting for each PS3 sold, I'd say that while it's still behind the Wii by quite a bit, it definitely looks better than what Microsoft got.

I'm still wondering how MLB Power Pros outsold Brawl the third week Brawl was out.
      Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

Yes, but how much is lost on each console sold?

          Re: March NPD

PS3 software sales are atrocious- nobody is buying their games. The attach rate is pathetic. I'm willing to be GTA IV will sell considerably more on the 360. A lot of people, for better or for worse, are getting it for movies and no more. Unfortunately, I'm contributing to the poor attachment rate

Microsoft was supply constrained the last two months (if you buy what they say) and I expect them to move a ton of consoles next month.

The Wii is an unstoppable monster though- the MS and Sony battle is just for sloppy seconds.

And how about MLB 2K8 with a top 10 appearance? I can't remember the last time a sports game made it. Say what you will about the 360, but the owners of the system buy games. Call of Duty is still moving a ton of units, which is remarkable.

                I agree. Even Sony agrees.

What was the last time we saw a firmware update that was game related?

the ps3 just doesn't have the games right now. All of the big franchises have yet to come out, and the online service is horrible compared to Live. Pretty much the only reasons to even own a ps3 right now are if you love bluray movies, or have given up on the 360 after getting numerous RROD problems.

Also, of course GTA4 will sell better on the 360, as the console gap in the US is about 11.5 million to 4.5 million right now. While you can subtract a few million 360's from that number due to RROD deaths, the same can be done for the ps3 for people buying it as a bluray player.

These number have got me worried about the ps3, as a gaming machine. I only have one bluray, which is the spiderman 3 that came with it, still shrink wrapped. This console just looks like a bluray player that can play games. The game sales are poor, and companies have to see that. Sony takes forever on any update if it isn't related to bluray playback. If I still have my xbox live account, I just might consider going back, since it's at least about games.

                    Re: March NPD

There are still plenty of loyal Sony customers that haven't gotten a PS3 yet due to the support the PS2 is getting. Microsoft killed the Xbox really quick so if you wanted to continue Xbox gaming, you kind of had to move on to the 360.

Once those huge titles like MGS come out, PS3 sales should increase greatly.

I'm also sure many people are holding of on a PS3 right now because of the MGS bundle that is coming. At least those that know about the bundle.

I don't agree with the waiting on the MGS bundle at all. I also don't see MGS4 being the system seller like many think it is. We'll see, but as of now, there's not this big hype or excitement about it, at least with most that I know.

One other thing I've picked up is that people are still calling the Wii a fad

I'll tell you one thing- the Wii has tapped into a segment of the market that Microsoft and Sony could never hope to reach. I've talked to some people who don't know diddly squat about gaming yet they still play Wii Sports like its nobody's business. They don't even care about Mario or anything like that.

well the wii can still technically be considered a fad. There are obviously people who absolutely love it, but there's also a percentage of sales that are happening because of the hype still. If people are buying it, loving it, spreading the word around to friends or co workers, only to stop playing it or only own one or two games, then it is a fad. It's like the hype keeps hopping from person to person, only to see it get shelved until parties.

Most companies put out a console to make money on future game sales. Nintendo put out a cheap console that makes them money regardless of if anyone buys games. Good for them, they are the king at this. The DS is another example of printing money. The DS sells amazingly well each month, yet the games are nowhere on the charts. I've even owned two of them.
