I think the RROD question is valid. What sense does it make for them to continue to push out these consoles and they have a major defect in the design?

Sure all electronics have some bad apples that dont make the cut but there is a reason they have a nation wide warranty program for all of those consoles out there. It isnt because they're nice people.

Jokes aside, this is what pisses me off about the 360 and why I won't support it on multi-platform games anymore.

Redesigning and releasing a new system that DOES NOT FAIL should be their utmost concern.

However, since people don't care that they get to lease a video game system with 3 years service things will be business as usual over at MS. They have no control.

Make a new system, people buy it, it dies, they send it in and we send it back.

Rinse and repeat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the systems run cooler since the re-design last year and this newer one will run even cooler -- so the RROD should not be nearly as common and hopefully wouldn't happen at all with the new version. You never know of course, but I can imagine that after taking a billion-dollar loss due to those issues, they'd do their best to fix it with any re-design. I've seen the videos of people's Elites going out, but I'd be interested to see the numbers on the new Falcon systems.

It's deja vu. Do some you not think the 360's reliability is the top concern for Microsoft now? Do you think the higher-ups were happy when they had to sign-off a billion dollars for the RROD? Do you not think whips were cracked and people lost their jobs?

Look, we all know something should have been done sooner, but they have taken steps into improving the reliability. Starting with the Falcon, and they will continue to introduce revisions, which will apparently be Jasper, Opus, and Valhalla.

actually, it's all part of any big business. MS already has billions invested in the whole xbox brand name since the first one came out. They could easily see that it would cost less in the end to write off a billion dollars to deal with shipping out refurbished 360's to people who get the RROD for free rather than redesigning the whole thing and opening themselves up for worse PR, class action lawsuits, or cries for complete product recalls.

I don't give a giant corporation like MS any slack in how they chose to deal with the RROD. They dealt with it the cheapest way they could. It's not a top priority to get rid of the RROD, as the hardware design changes are being done to make 360's cheaper to make. It just happens that the 360 will run cooler as a result.
