    Debating my options

OK, so my 360 just got the 3 red lights of death. This is the second time it's happened to me. The first was March of 2007 with my Pro system. I traded in the system, which happened a few months before the warranty change, and I replaced it with a core system. Now, it's happened again.

I've recently purchased GTAIV, MLB 2K8 and have loads of fun with NBA 2K8. I'm considering trading everything in, cutting my losses and getting a PS3. My other idea is to purchase an Elite system and sent in my core system to get it fixed. The reason I'd do this I wouldn't mind giving the repaired system to a friend who still just has a PS2.

I've got about eight 360 games, plus Ninja Turtles and a few classics downloaded from XBLA. But, I loved my PS2. Still have it and originally thought I'd trade in my 360 for a PS3 when that first came out.

I could go either way, but I don't want to buy a PS3 and keep the 360. That just doesn't appeal to me. I think it comes down to how much money I can save by trading everything in vs. the satisfaction of doing something cool for a friend.

    Thoughts, feedback? Thanks.

Sounds like you haven't had a warranty repair on the two 360s you've had. I would at least get the warranty repair first. That way you'll have the problem officially addressed.

Other food for thought is that trading your stuff in is a colossal waste of money. Attempt to sell your system by other means first (craigslist, eBay, etc.).

      Why wats wrong with owning a both a 360 and a ps3?
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
      Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
      Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

      Captain Tenneal: Get it on!

Owning both just feels like a waste to me. I use my system just as much to watch DVDs as play video games. In that aspect getting a PS3 is appealing, but thanks for the feedback. Trading everything in does feel like the biggest waste of money. If it wasn't, this would probably be an easier choice.

Try craiglist first. Ebay would work better but you'll get screwed with the final value fees. And then take it on the chin with paypal fees (unless you only sell via money order). Under no circumstances should you trade in though. That's gotta be one of the biggest legal scams ever. Good luck.
