    Getting invaldi format with HDMI

I have a Westinghouse HDTV and when I go to plug my PS3 with the HDMI cable I get invalid format on my televison. But when I do the same thing with my XBOX 360 it works fine. I have played my PS3 on my TV before but not in a long while. What is wrong?

    Try this:

Make sure the HDMI cable is the only A/V connection plugged in. Then , with the system in standby (red light) press and hold the PS3's power "button" until it beeps a second time (it takes about 5 seconds). The system then checks for ALL video connections, and starts up in the best mode it can find. If the HDMI is working, you should see the "An available HDMI device was detected, do you want to output video and audio using HDMI" screen. Just go from there and it'll set the resolution automatically, and eventually get you to the XMB.

If that doesn't work, then it might be the cable or your TV. You might try a component or composite video connection just to see if they work (do the same thing as above, but replace HDMI with whatever video input you're using). And of course, make sure the TV's on the right setting.

    Good luck!
