I have to say, my only gripe about this update is the lack of a visual indicator that you have new messages. I'm referring to the "Received" icon. It's just there... I have to go in and constantly look to see if I missed any messages.

Sort of like checking the mailbox in real life all the time when you're not really expecting anything. Beyond annoying. Just give me a damn little number on top of the icon or something like a bubble (ala iPhone).

I don't have either of those problems with the XMB quit or theme icons not showing up.

I use a theme and in-game, I get the default XMB icons, not my theme icons.

Exactly.

Here's an example... if a game doesn't use the "invite a friend" feature, you can't blame MS for it. The framework is there; The developer needs to utilize it.

Many of EA's and 2k's games had this missing from their sports titles.

I don't have that issue... maybe the theme never had the icons in the first place? Not sure.

I have a custom theme, not a PSN one. Could be the way it was designed.

God, I didn't think I'd really care about trophies and all that stuff but I'm so close to Level 2 with 10 trophies already but I can't unlock any of the others in SSHD, lol. Anyone get to Level 2 yet?

I get the little blurb in the right corner... but every time you sign on to PSN you can't just know if you have messages; You have to go and look inside your Inbox.

It's a slight annoyance... just hoping I'm missing something and not seeing an indicator somewhere.

Surely they would be able to add something in the corner that would indicate the number of new messages you have.

So, I've heard different things about retroactive trophies every other page. If you can, please allow me to hear the answer to this question loud and clear so I know what I can do:

Can I progress in my currently owned games (S.K.A.T.E. and GTA IV), pass potential trophy unlocking events, and retrieve them later when the game enables the trophy feature?

I'm not talking about taking someone else's file from online or anything... I'm just talking about my own save file. I've also heard that it has something to do with syncing it to my PSN ID, but I didn't understand that for one second.


Thanks to anyone that can help me here. I'm wondering if I should keep going in my games or if I should wait.

Man reading most of the posts after the update you would think its only a trophy update which really isnt the exciting

It's because all they really did was put in in-game XMB with some other good stuff. In-game messaging was more of a "at least it's finally there" instead of a priority.

At least that's the way I feel. "At least it's there..." finally.

That's a good question, I don't think there is concrete evidence yet.
