Wow. Interesting. I just saw this as well:

We're receiving reports that PS3s are no longer updating to firmware 2.40. Consoles currently running 2.36 are stating that there are no available updates when a system update is attempted. It seems that downloading the firmware from the official sites is also impossible. Firefox 404s out on the Japanese, European and American sites. Has the latest firmware been pulled from the net? If so, why? If you're having issues with grabbing the latest update be sure to let us know.

We'll be contacting Sony to find out exactly what's going on, so keep an eye on us for more info. Hopefully soon.

Update: Confirmed. Firmware 2.40 is currently unavailable.

I found a download link on the official Playstation site and it went to an invalid page. I wonder why they pulled the updated?

I just got home and saw that there wasn't a system update for me anymore. That's crazy that they pulled it.

Not sure. I think those that had problems, had them for the beginning. Not sure. Either way Sony better make a official statement on this and release a newer version really soon especially since some have 2.40 while others have 2.36.

I think someone is ahead of you actually, he is on my friends list and I kept checking on his progress last night, he was getting trophies right and left it seemed.

Lol, I've been playing on and off today and I can't seem to unlock any of the ones I have left and I'm stuck a sliver from Level 2. I just wanna get over that hump even though I never considered myself a "trophy-whore".

This is oh too funny. I wouldn't want to work at Sony's PS3 division right now! I know when we have big releases (we had one that was dragged out way too long, almost 2 years!) that there are bugs, but with Sony it's nuts if they're pulling it like this. I know stuff gets past testing (I'm guilty of it myself), but wow.

I've had no problems with 2.40, except it seems as though S.K.A.T.E takes longer to load up the main menu.

So if we do have 2.40 already, are we screwing ourselves somehow?

I can vouch that since I Dl'd the 2.40 I keep getting booted off of MGO every game. Never been not once since release. Connection not stable or unstable. So I guess something is not right. Heck, wonder if I should have waited on getting 2.40. Maybe if ExtremeGamer had not of been bragging or was it Altimus about the Throphies I would not have touched it lol!!!!

I've had no problems with it at all. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Will 2.4 stay on my system or will it roll back if I go online?

I bought Stardust, and my PS3 froze when I went to play it, I think it was in the process of getting a trophy. I turned it back on and there's no trophy but it did start up. I just turned it back off when I read the update was pulled.

Wonder if I can re-download 2.36?
