Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
With the holiday this weekend, we probably won't get the update till next weekend unless Sony makes it high priority.Comment

Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
Maybe they will give us an update on their blog, hopefully. While they have 2.40 pulled, I do hope that they fix the XMB because when you call it during a game, boy is it slow due to lit trying to load everything.
I know you guys were complaining about that when the FW first released, that they should only show the important pieces of the XMB and not everything.
Nice new name........ XLR7.

Manual download worked for me. It's still "meh" for me right now. Not excited about trophies."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
It is slow, but from what I remember so was the Xbox Guide sometimes was as well. It depends on what is going on in the game. Looks like they still have some work to do with the OS size.Maybe they will give us an update on their blog, hopefully. You would think though this would be a high priority thing since many people have 2.40 and many people don't. No Store update today either so I'm not sure what is going on.
Yeah, I got tired of Altimus.

Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
I just don't know this 2.40 on Metal Gear Online for me is a mess. I keep getting booted off the server. Not once since I have had the game was I having this problem. The only other online game I play is COD4 and not much at all. Anyone else that plays MGS4 online running into this problem since the DL?The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
Got some trophies tonight. If there's a sound, maybe only dogs can hear it, because I sure can't.
Not sure what it is, but a trophy compared to a "point" value still isn't the same. Maybe once Sony gets an web system set up to see everyone's trophies I'll change my mind, or when more games use the feature. I went and played some Battlefield, got an achievement, and it's still more satisfying right now for me.
The rest of the update laid a great groundwork for the future though, but I still feel the XMB interface with games and what not won't be fulfilled until we see Home launched.Comment

There is a sound but the only way you hear it is if everything else is muted or really quiet which makes it pointless.Got some trophies tonight. If there's a sound, maybe only dogs can hear it, because I sure can't.

I was getting booted from games (the Connection Not Stable message, right?) well before 2.4 hit, so at least for me it didn't have to do with that.I just don't know this 2.40 on Metal Gear Online for me is a mess. Veering slightly OT here, to talk about MGO...
I wonder if part of the problem isn't us, but rather the HOST with the issue. Because almost every time I do an automatch, my connection is stable and lag is minimal (you can tell by how white that first bar is on the player list) - I'm guessing automatch tries to find a competent host before starting the game. But when I join somebody else's game, often times the lag is AWFUL - dying 5 seconds after I've moved out of range, being CQC'd by somebody several steps away, etc. It says in MGO's online help that you need to have an upload speed of 256 to be able to support a 16 player server, and I'm guessing a lot of people who create games don't have that. Obviously, my way of fixing this for the time being is to play only automatches, and I'm actually enjoying the game again.

Yeah connection not stable was what I was getting after the 2.40 DL but today I am just getting booted to the PSN sign menu. Never been booted not 1 time before. Thanks for the info. Peace!!!!I was getting booted from games (the Connection Not Stable message, right?) well before 2.4 hit, so at least for me it didn't have to do with that.

Re: PS3 firmware 2.40 down
I downloaded 2.40 last night and didnt have any problems while I was playing Hot Shots Golf, and I was bouncing back and forth sending messages through the XMB while I was playing the game as well. Hopefully I dont have any problems anytime soon.Comment
